I booked a room with Queen bed and a sofa bed, when arrived they gave me a room with a chair and for disabled, said that the only room they have. No remote control for tv, not even a bottle of water. I felt like been scammed.

This was my second stay in the Novotel, Reading and I was very happy with its location, staff and facilities. From the lovely phone call I had with a friendly member of staff before I arrived, who rightly reassured me that the 380 yards of streets between the railway station and the hotel would usually be safely walkable when we arrived on the late train after midnight (plenty of noisy, good humoured revellers, not scary). The hotel room was perfectly quiet after the busy streets and the beds were very comfortable (sofa bed not squeaky, bonus!) Loved the small pool, sauna and steam room - a great Sunday morning treat. Staff were excellent - professional, friendly and helpful. Look forward to staying here again.

Hotel was ok, I got really nice and clean room. Staff was ok. But: 1. Pool area ... it looks like none is cleaning it. No shower gel in place. Sauna was not working on Monday morning. 2. Room cleaning. Ok, I had to ask one day in advance to get my room cleaned. And I asked. But my room was not cleaned as promised.

After arriving tired in the evening it was lovely to arrive to a clean, quiet and comfortable room. I was on the 12th floor so I don't know if that made it quieter but it was just what I needed while working away.

Once i made my booking. I called to comfirm my booking and also ask about where the parking was that i had paid for and also what time i can check it as i requested early check-in. When spoken to on the phone by a lady who was very unhelpful and came across as rude and was also making me repeat myself numerous times. This already frustrated me before even getting to the hotel. Baring in mind i myself have worked for Accor Hotels for 2 years starting as housekeeping and moving over to a guest service agent(receptionist). So i am aware of the service you should provide. Once checking in i was met by a receptionist who looked very unhappy to be working there n quickly rushed through the check-in procedure. Wasnt told about checkout time or the fact that all their lifts werent working apart from 1. So once my parnter and myself got to the room, Before entering there was a massive stain on the carpet right infront of our door. Then entered the room to see a fold out sofa bed made up which i did not request? Stains on the curtains. Mold on the tiles in the shower. The layout of the room was awful. So once going out for the day i asked at reception that the fold out sofa could be put away as we didnt need it. Then to come back after a long day to find nothing was done with the sofa bed. So i put it away myself. Very annoyed my request was ignored as they had hours before we returned to do it. We also ordered room service and just wanted a cocktail each. Which we had no idea what cocktails they do as we only got a paper food menu on check-in. The poor lady who took our room service order had to read all the cocktails off the menu as she didnt know either what they sold. Then next day the breakfast was cold and under stocked. Then when checking out there was no one at reception and we waited til there was someone as i wanted a printed copy of my receipt. When we finally were able to check out. We were not asked how our stay was at all. They just looked at the computer said yeh all paid. Were tried to ask how to exit the parking as it underground parking and was looked at as if that was a silly question to ask when it was a nightmare even getting in the parking let alone exiting it. Was told it tells you how when your down there. So once we get to my car my side mirror had been knocked in. To pay £20 for parking for one night and to have my side mirror knocked in. Ridiculous how tight the spaces were. So overall my stay at Novotel Reading Centre was awful. I will not be staying there again. The standards were awful and need improvements especially with your receptionists and housekeeping standards. The room was overpriced for the standard it was. Ridiculous. Also as a member of Accor i didnt feel valued at all. I understand ive started on a free membership but that should not matter. I was also not explained about how i can earn points while i was at the hotel. So im not even sure i received any point for my room service or not. Im embarrassed to think the UK Accor Hotel standards are so poor and i hope i can be proven wrong in the future.

All good, hotel clean and tidy with helpful staff. Experience starting to get back to normal after the previous 18 months of stuff. Breakfast selection excellent. Bit of confusion about car parking locally.

None of the room side lights worked, missing lamps and broken starters, two plug sockets where not correctly fitted to the wall exposing wires, the toilet is in a cupboard so you have to walk, with dirty hands, round the room to the sink. The joining door to the room next door has no lock and the door is easily popped open from the opposite side. All in all, not what you expect for the money. Shame really.

Problems with billing and over charging. Room not serviced at all during my stay Room was hot. Air conditions didn’t really work. Hotel allowed dogs which I did not know and I have a mild allergy

The room was comfortable but the air con did not work. We enjoyed the pool and sauna.the staff at the reception were very helpful as were the other members of staff we met.

Poor customer service on reception. Appalling food in restaurant. Mattress was upside down on bed and mattress protector had large brownish stain. Obvious lack of staff. Only saving grace was a good breakfast.

I am also quite disappointed that the attitude of the staff that you dealt with was also below par. I sincerely apologise for this as it is certainly not the kind of attitude or service we are renowned for providing our guests. On this occasion, it looks like we have however dropped the ball and I have liaised with both my executive housekeeper to discuss the problems you experienced in the room. While you are perhaps very hesitant of using our hotel again, but as a gesture of goodwill and apology we would like to offer you a privileged rate in your next visit as well as a complimentary upgrade to one of our executive rooms. Overall, very good and we enjoyed our stay. There were a couple of issues with payment, and with the room keys, but the staff handled these very well. Staff were all friendly and welcoming, breakfast was excellent! My only quibble, is that the room was too cold.

Walking into our queen room was an unexpected surprise of a modern clean design. Very spacious, and looked like a lot of thought had gone into the everyday needs of a customer staying. Walk in shower as well as a bath and separate toilet. There was one major factor that disappointed us which was the AC - to be honest I don’t think it was an actual ac system as no hot or cold just a temperature with 3 levels of fan which done nothing for quite a hot hotel! We ended up asking for a fan which was delivered to us promptly. The hotel amenities were great, we used the swimming pool etc however there were no more pool towels left in the changing rooms and used ones were just dumped in a corner. If your staying on a weekend, be ready for the party goers outside until 3am. Luckily we were at the back/side of the hotel so noise levels were ok considering our window had to stay open. With a change of carpets to suit the modern and clean look, this hotel could easily be amongst the higher rated hotels.

I used to love visiting this hotel. The reception were great and sorted out rooms on the quiet side near my friends. The rooms are more run down and need a refresh, but worst are the lifts. The swimming area was invaded by boys in their pants- they stole money from the changing rooms. My friend was awoken by rowdy people at 5am right outside her room. It was pretty horrible.

My family appreciated our stay in Novotel, The staffs were very helpful. The hotel provides us almost every facilities . Food was great(i mean it :))Overall experience was awesome. I'll recommend this hotel to every couple and families:). You wont regret, just be there:)
