Great city centre location. We were visiting for the Christmas markets and this was ideal as in walking distance for a number of markets, shops, bars and restaurants. Hotel itself was lovely and quiet considering the location. Rooms were clean and warm after a cold day exploring the city. Check in was very slow, we were originally asked to wait 15mins as we arrived at 2.45pm (check in was 3pm) but after 45mins we gave up - left our bags with reception and went exploring. I think there was an issue with the computer system but no updates were given out to the many customers waiting. We followed a previous reviewers advice and got the the train from the airport which was €7 for two of us. Super easy and a 15min walk from the train station to hotel on a straight road. We decided to get a taxi on departure due to an early flight and this was €47 (not the €30 reception had advised us) so definitely worth getting the train to save some money! Overall a pleasant stay and would book again if retuning to Cologne!

Check in was 3.00pm and we were still waiting at 3.40 as computer has broken. Manager was accommodating but girls behind reception were clearly taking about us and made it quite obvious which is not a nice atmosphere to be in. Nice clean room and everything we needed to make it comfortable.

Would stay again.

The poorer reviews for this hotel seem to relate to 2019 or earlier. I'm pleased to report that things appear to have significantly improved during the intervening 5 years. Check-in procedure is a bit slow, but the staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was as one might expect from a hotel of this standard, clean & comfortable without any unnecessary 'trimmings'. As stated in some previous revues, the shower is impossible to use by anyone with more than slight mobility problems because of the very high step into it, but maybe the hotel can offer other more 'disabled-friendly' rooms if asked; we didn't. By staying for more than 3 nights the room rate was reduced for the following night(s). We didn't have any breakfasts so cannot comment thereon, but they were a bit 'stingy' with the supply of complementary sachets of tea/coffee etc.; we had to ask more than once for 'top ups'. Notwithstanding any of the little problems, we would certainly stay there again if in Cologne.

Too many frustrations

Let's start with a positive or two. The location is good and the breakfast is excellent. Sadly, other aspects of my stay were frustrating. Only one of the two lifts was working. This didn't affect me much, except on my departure, when it cost me four minutes. There was a bath with a shower over it, but the step in/out was so high, with so little to grab, that I couldn't use it. I.checked in online in advance on the promise of being able to check out by simply handing in my key. This was a lie! I needed to pay a city tax, which could have been collected when I arrived, and we spent five minutes arguing about whether I should pay again for the breakfasts I had bought in advance. They did eventually concede that I had already paid. I nearly missed my train.

Guten Abend. I stayed during Anuga week. I'm the worst Deutsch speaker, but the hotel had brought me a smile from morning with high flexibility and diversity mindset. I guess other guest are also same mindset. Thank you so much for your hospitality!!
