Functional, nice enough

Six of us stayed for 3 nights, so we really only needed somewhere to sleep. Hotel is away from the main city centre but there are trams every 10 minutes or so from a stop about 3 minutes walk away. Hotel itself is fairly basic so rooms are small but we all found it to be clean and tidy. Breakfast is typical continental but something for everyone if you’re not after anything flash. A few negatives: climate control in rooms doesn’t work so can get warm; depending on which side you’re on, there are busy roads nearby so having a window open is noisy You only get one pillow each! It’s a continental thing, you might be able to ask for another… Bar shuts at 10 pm so don’t return expecting a night cap before you retire. Priced accordingly, can’t complain really.

Don’t stay here!

I would never recommend here or stay again. The rooms were tiny and absolutely boiling hot but you could not have the window open due to the noise. Also right next to a main road and the trams. Mattress didn’t even have a sheet on, it just had a topper on. The pillows were the worst l have ever slept (well, not slept) on. The bathroom was like an aeroplane toilet and was so dirty with lots of broken bits. The towels were like sandpaper. All in all a terrible stay. Much nicer hotels nearby for the same price if not cheaper.

The hotel’s pros: the location is generally good, breakfast is varied, and the rooms are spacious and clean. However, the most important issue that completely overshadows these positives is the indifference of the staff. Especially at the reception, where guests should be greeted with friendliness and hospitality upon arrival, the staff are indifferent and do not smile, which completely cancels out the other positive aspects. The staff, especially the women, seem like they are about to argue with you at any moment. When you tell the staff in the breakfast hall that the crepe machine is not working, is it better to hear “we’ll check it right away” or a careless “okay, but it’ll only be ready in 10 minutes”? (Especially considering that another staff member managed to fix it and make it usable in just one minute.) Cons: • No chocolate at breakfast. • No face towels in the room. • The pillows feel like half-used flour sacks. Not comfortable at all. • No tea/coffee set in the room. • No slippers in the room.
