Unfortunately, a huge storm hit Newcastle and the roof collapsed in the restaurant/kitchen so no in-house food. I was helped with organizing uber eats.

Place is old but good location. Got hit with a sneaky $25 per night parking cost on arrival. Only booked because it was the cheapest other than a pub however adding in the $50 gouge probably isn't the cheapest or worth it.

When we arrived there we people everywhere cleaning up after heavy rain had flooded the foyer and restaurant area. A lady who was mopping and cleaning greeted us with a big smile. We thought she was the cleaner. Turns out she was the head Chef ( Rebecca) and was fantastic helping us. My wife is in a wheelchair and Bec organised with the staff to have us upgraded to a disabled room. She then helped me bring our luggage into the room. The staff we fantastic, breakfast was great. The room was great except that the bed was too high. Only negative was the parking fee of $25 per night. One month ago it was $15. After discussions with staff, the second night fee was waved. Overall really happy with our 2 night stay and a big thank you to Rebecca who we felt went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable.

This is the most economical accommodation in Newcastle, that's close to light rail and has parking, although that has gone up $10 to $25 a night. I've tried the breakfast buffet a couple of times when it was included in the price and it's awful. There's no way I'd pay for it. The housekeeping service is rudimentary, with a very basic half attempt at making the bed.
