Nice location; concierge was very friendly and managed a nice restaurant booking for us. Breakfast on Saturday was not so good: while staff was friendly, the service was slow and not particularly attentive to customer wishes. Breakfast buffet was ordinary, not exceptionally. I have seen better buffets at other Sofitel hotels.

From the second you walk through the door you are made to feel right at home, every member of staff in the hotel go above and beyond, every member of staff knew my name, I would recommend this hotel to everyone, it’s perfectly placed to explore London, and the rooms are finished to a very high standard, we can’t wait to go back for our next stay

We decided to stay at the Sofitel for a work event based on a suggestion from our Chairman. We had the team fly in from USA, Europe and various UK locations. The meeting rooms were great, the rooms super comfortable and the staff, including Nil was excellent before, during and after the event.

Before the start of the pandemic we stayed a number of times at the Sofitel. Breakfast not as smooth on this visit. Perhaps not enough staff at present

Spent a couple of nights at hotel for a couple of personal events. Room was upgraded (thankyou) which was good. All staff excellent. Room very good - well appointed, good facilities. Couple of minor points : Only one towel left in bathroom on second night of stay.... not ideal ! No room in refrigerator to keep milk cool

Hotel is great, rooms fantastic and location spot on. My stay was impacted by booking system problems that meant although I had a confirmed booking they didn’t have my reservation in their system

We stayed in this wonderful hotel during a birthday visit to London. The hotel is immaculately clean with warm friendly staff who are certainly on the ball and couldn't do enough for us. The hotel is centrally located making travel to all attractions and venue's simple and straightforward. The location itself is very quiet in the evenings which insures an undisturbed sleep. We had a fantastic stay in this hotel and London and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to friends and family.

Great Hotel but Bar Shut!

I've stayed at Sofitel St James half a dozen times, and it's among my favourite hotels in London. I was looking forward to this particular stay as a post-pandemic treat. Things were mostly excellent as always, helpful staff, an upgrade because of my Diamond membership, and a generous late checkout. However, my stay was on a Tuesday and Wednesday nights, and I was disappointed to be told that the hotel bar was shut for those two evenings, Tuesday and Wednesday. It had been open the previous evening, and I was assured that it would reopen the day after I checked out (not much good to me!) I've always enjoyed a pre-dinner cocktail at the bar, and sometimes sit there for an hour to read my book, and I expected that facility on this occasion. The staff were apologetic, and served me a drink in the restaurant area, not nearly as nice, beside swing doors to kitchen with a not so nice view of a rubbish container. Sofitel should do better at this price point. Let's hope things will be better when I next stay. Apart from this issue, I really like the hotel. It still gets four stars.
