Rooms not as described on website decor in reception clean and modern decor in rooms and hallways tired and dated. Room cleanliness at very poor standard several areas of the room dirty and grimy bedsheets with holes in them maintenance is of very poor standard light fixture outside bathroom coming away from wall with live cables exposed cracks all around window mirror light not working in bathroom only 1 towel for 2 people sharing a double. Website states tea & coffee making facilities only a kettle and 2 plastic cups no tea or coffee or spoons etc. This hotel is not anywhere near the standard of 4 stars I would struggle to consider this a 3 star. We booked this hotel as was close to Great Ormand street hospital as our son was having major surgery so was convenient spent very little time in the room only used to catch up on some sleep just didn’t have the time or energy to raise so many complaints with reception. I thought reception was very rude when we was asked about our stay and I explained about my son there was no empathy. Would not ever stay here again. Awful hotel.

Great location in central London. Room was small, basic but pretty comfortable. It got really warm at night though, despite it being cool outside, and needed air con on or window open at all times. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast restaurant was closed for to Covid so was given ‘grab bag’ which was really poor, filled with sweet stuff like chocolate muffins and sugar-coated cereal bars. Would not have booked here had I known it was not a cooked breakfast. Felt clean and well sanitised, taking covid precautions seriously.

First room was dirty and no remote control for either TV or ceiling mounted fan. Requested a change Second room had heating on making room hotter than Sahara couldn’t switch it off not lack of trying, ceiling mounted fan is old making more noise than a car mechanical garage (fan needs to be taken out)! Staff were very good and polite - this helped

Unfortunately due to the crisis .. experience was rather impersonal. Don’t think cleanliness was up to scratch as saw silverfish under the toilet. Hot water took about 10 minutes to flow in the shower and was told by staff that needed to open sink’s tap to speed up the flow ... rather wasteful, I think. Rooms extremely small.. even though I booked a “superior” king instead of a “standard” .. so can’t imagine how pokey the smaller rooms may be.. Appreciate it is a 4 star property, but found it below standard and disappointing. Nevertheless, it served its purpose.

matress is too soft and would need replacing as it caused me great pain in the morning. There are also no tea and coffee facilities in the room. The postives are that the room was clean and tidy.

Excellent check-in; serious re COVID but welcoming and full of explanation. Only downside - on check out - quite early - was asked for a further payment 'as rates had gone up' - I explained that I had already pre-paid -- was told 'rates had gone up' again but eventually it was agreed I could check-out as the hotel had all my details once the issue was sorted to ask for further payment! I had already paid the full amount through the ALL website for members.

The hotel had excellent Covid 19 measures in place on arrival and around the hotel. The receptionist was very helpful on check in explaining that my special requests were not available as all 2 floors at the hotel were open & I like a higher floor room normally. We were given an upgrade to a very nice corner room. The hotel is in a great location easier walking distance to many London attractions . Considering the current times we are in & some services were not available we had a nice stay at the hotel. Only point to note that I did not receive my welcome drink as a silver member but this may have been because of the Covid rules.

I could have got a better level of comfort in a Premier Inn

I had to endure two days of cold showers. After the first experience, I reported the lack of hot water to the receptionist. I was told that my room was a long way from the boiler and that I should run the tap for longer. On the second occasion, I ran the hot tap for 35 minutes, but the water temperature never rose above tepid. Whilst the staff were friendly and helpful, and the bed was comfortable, the room was spartan and the furniture somewhat worn. A long way from the usual standards I have experienced in other Mercure hotels.

The hotel is in a great location, with access to local shops and walking distance to oxford street which is ideal for shopping too. Some staff at the reception were always pleasant whilst others were not so pleasant. They did not make me feel welcome. The breakfast was little bags of croissant which was not fresh, the apple was also not fresh. The one good thing about the breakfast bag was the juice.

The hotel is close to Russell Square tube station and a quick walk to Tottenham Court Road, Oxford Street etc. The room itself was good though the minor points were that the ice cube tray had black mould in it and I saw a mouse scurry in and out of my room under the door. This isn't unexpected for central London hotel.

The bed was made up using a mattress soft top rather than a duvet. Several things in the room were not working and there was a stain on the undersheet If this was of no concern to the staff what else was neglected in the hotel? We feel our health was compromised. We have stayed in Accor hotels for many years in several countries and this is by far our worst experience. We stayed at Novotel London Bridge two weeks ago and were made to feel perfectly safe and comfortable.
