Unpleasant stay

8 problems over a 2 day stay. 1st - Check-in. 1st room smelled so bad of poo it was as if a previous guest used the floor. I had to leave immediately. I was given a 2nd room. 2nd - Air con over door leaked droplets of water on the floor when on cold setting. 3rd - Toilet leaked slightly on flushing. From the u-bend near the floor. Small amounts of water flowed to shower drain. 4th - No flannels, only body and beach towels. I had to go out and buy a face flannel as body towel too large. Strangely I felt compelled to bring my flannel from home but decided against my instincts. They were right, I should have listened and brought the flannel with me. 5th - TV Chromecast didn't work. I was at the mercy of whatever was on the TV channels, sleeping or going for walks at other times to pass the time. Annoying. 6th - Drilling 9am - 10:30am, when I queried this, I was pointed to small signs. From process of elimination, signs were put up overnight and in the morning. 7th - I paid to stay til 5pm yet got a knock on my door at 12 noon asking why I've not checked out. When explaining, they advised they weren't told this information. 8th - and worse - at no point in my interactions with staff members did I get a welcoming smile. I did all the smiling where needed. I got a forced tiniest smile from the assistant manager on checkout, feeling like it was more of a "thank goodness you're leaving" smile. RIP Customer Service. Ibis in Manchester and London used to be my first check hotels to stay on breaks. I won't stay again, staying elsewhere after these annoyances over only 2 days.

I stayed for 7 nights enjoying a city break. I have a really busy and stressful job and needed a restful, hassle-free time. And that's exactly what I had. The hotel is well-located, just off Oxford Road and not far at all from the city centre. The facilities are good and are kept in good condition. My room, and the hotel more generally, were clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and approachable. And the cleaning staff respected my wish not to be disturbed during my stay. That has not been the case at every hotel I have visited, and it was much appreciated. There was even a welcome card and a bakewell tart waiting for me when I first checked into the room, which was a very nice touch. In terms of getting really good value for money, it's hard to do better than this hotel. As always, I enjoyed Manchester, which is a lovely city with lots to do. I hope to visit again and would definitely recommend it to others.
