Nice stay, a few problems.

When we arrived, the receptionists were able to assist us and they were nice but not enthusiastic, which is fine if you don’t mind that. The lift requires a key card to be scanned which we didn’t know until we were in the lift and another person staying at the hotel told us on the second day. There were no signs to tell us that. The room was spacious and the view was lovely. It was always cleaned very well when we went out. There were plenty of towels and a spare mattress and pillow, although the mattress was in a bag that said “spare pillow” so if you need a spare mattress check all the bags in the cupboard before asking reception. The room was very hot all day which made it difficult to sleep at night and the air conditioning didn’t work at all. It just made noise. The fridge was barely cold. It just about did what we need it to do but it was soaking wet. The beds were comfortable. We had a room for two adults and two children. The children’s beds weren’t separated and the mattress was only enough for one child which is why we needed the spare mattress, so be aware of that if travelling with children. The hotel wasn’t very far from the city, it was around 15 minutes to walk. There were plenty menu is very limited, with only two desert options and very few meals. Tv was big which was good but most channels are in German.

This hotel was our base for our stay in Cologne. We came with our two kids and found the value for money, staying a 20 minute walk was much better than staying right in the centre. The walk to/from the city was a scenic walk along the river that required minimal effort. The hotel was comfortable and clean and is recommended for a stay in the city if you’re happy with the walk or use transport

Odalar yeterince büyük ve temizdi, oda temizliği düzenli yapıldı ama oda klima sistemi odayı ısıtmaya yetersizdi. Extra fan getirildi ama oda çok sesli çalışıp uyku kalitemizi etkiledi. Son gün çıkış yapılırken kahvaltı ücretinin 1 kişi için olduğu diğer yetişkin içinde ödeme talep edildi. Biz burayı seçerken sistemden kahvaltıyı seçtik ve bunun 1 kişi için olması gibi garip bir uygulama ile ilk defa karşılaştık. Biz ailecek şimdiye kadar onlarca otelde kaldık, kahvaltı dahil denildiğinde bütün kişiler için geçerli oldu. Ben 75 euro daha fazla bir ödeme yapmam gerektiğini bilse idim daha merkezi başka bir otel seçerdim.

Starting perfect, finished with disappointment

All the details of the hotel are as follows; -rooms are normal size -bathroom and toilet are clean -heating system is old, our room's thermostat was not working, so you have to either leave it on or off all the time, it makes a bit of noise so having it on all the time will give you a headache and dry your nose a bit. -heating system in our friends' room was only blowing cold air, they froze in the winter, we informed the reception about the situation but since there was no technical service on the weekend, they gave a small heater, they managed for two nights, they didn't even offer to change the room. -Let's come to the important issues, the hotel is 20 minutes away from the city center. So why did we choose it, because it was an economical and high-rated hotel but it ended in disappointment, frustration and anger. -Why? They explain everything nicely when you check-in but they don't say that breakfast is per person, in fact this issue is never mentioned, when you leave, you see that there is an additional breakfast fee. -When you pay 400 Euros for the entire hotel for 4 nights and 200 Euros for breakfast, the economic image of the hotel suddenly disappears. -Why would you choose this place for an economical family holiday when there are many alternatives very close to the center for 50% more? -There are hotels very close to the center for 150 Euros per night including breakfast. Let's come to the conclusion; Hotels are at the forefront of the service sector and the most important point they care about should be customer satisfaction. The fee policy (especially breakfast) that is never mentioned when entering the hotel is mentioned when leaving the hotel and causes disappointment in the customers. While we are on holiday happily, it suddenly turns into an angry mood. If the hotel had mentioned this issue during check-in, we would have cancelled the breakfast. Instead of having the same breakfast every day, we would try a different breakfast in the city every day for 50 Euros per day. Please make your calculations by considering all these situations. If you do not think about such fine details, your holiday may be expensive.
