Tidy, clean venue but service and menu was not to standard one would expect from the Novotel

we had a conference at the venue for 2 days. we all felt the menu for lunch, dinner, morning and afternoon tea was well below standard and unfortunately this is the feedback received afterwards again from staff that attended. the drinks package for the dinner was very poor quality apparently the cheapest of offer from Jacobs Creek and this is truly disappointing based on the fact we were at the Barossa Valley known for great wine and food. we had team members from interstate and overseas attend. Our empty plates sat on the table after dinner for a lnger period of time, longer than one would have expected and to the point I had to go ask for them to be cleared as we were hosting a quiz night with dirty plates on the table.... drinks were very rare and again service was poor. this is a new yearly event we have planned on having and unfortunately we will not be coming back to the Novotel for this. this event cost us just under $20k for 1 night and as a smaller business this is not well spent. I was apologized to but i honestly didnt feel that was very sincere, but i do wish to add that young lady who helped over the 2 days and the audio gentleman were very helpful.

Was disappointed that there were no movie channels in the rooms. After days out it's nice to come back to your room and watch a movie on Netflix or some streaming channel or even be able to cast my phone to the TV - but the old televisions in the rooms were only compatible with android phones. Couldn't believe that they wouldn't work with apple phones!! If we wanted to watch movies then it was going to cost us an extra $35 per day! Breakfast was quite nice, but when we're paying $35 per head we expect better coffee not the horrible coffee from the self serve machine. Was going to get a barista coffee but had to pay an extra $6 for this on top of the $35 already paid! Chose to go into Tanunda and get a nice coffee from a cafe instead. The view from the restaurant was nice and rest of breakfast good too. All of the staff at the complex were excellent. Very friendly and helpful. And the rooms were quite nice - except for the TVs. Think for the price being charged the facilities need to be better.

We enjoyed our room; immaculate, quiet and comfortable. Check in staff were lovely and helpful and the pool area was great - also clean and well situated with plenty of loungers etc Unfortunately, our experience with the restaurant was quite different. We popped down to the restaurant just after 6pm to see if we could have dinner. It was completely empty. We were told no they weren’t taking bookings for the rest of the evening; we inquired as to whether the kitchen was open (it was) and if we could perhaps eat early before the crowd. Again it was a no. No explanation, two staff members just stood and stared at us after giving this response. One then volunteered that there were plenty of places in Tanunda to try. Then tried room service but were told there’d be at least an hour wait. We left and did go into Tanunda. Returned for a swim at 8:30 and went back to the bar in the restaurant. The restaurant was less than half full. We ordered two mojitos at an empty bar from the same person that spoke to us when we attempted to book dinner. She took the order and was pretty blunt, stating ‘you’re going to have a bit of a wait. I’ve got coffees to make before your order’ I sat and another staff member returned to the bar. She immediately asked if she could help and proceeded to make our drinks. I asked how her night had been and she responded that the restaurant had been pretty quiet that evening (!). Just to add; we’re not entitled, we can take no for an answer. If there is no availability that’s just the way jt is. It was simply the complete lack of care factor, warmth, willingness to help or engage by the restaurant staff that was really off putting. We would be very unlikely to stay again.
