The place itself is neat and quaint, however I felt that the rooms were quite dated and a little old. The TV didn’t have the function to stream which made viewing limited (or the need to pay to watch movies). I felt that for the cost, it wasn’t the best. I think that the thing that disappointed me the most was the fact that I when I booked via the website that was created by the Novotel for the conference that I was attending, I selected the option for breakfast for myself and my family. I remember that the price increased in the total - however when we went to get breakfast the next day, I was told that it was not included and that I would need to pay $40 per person if we wanted to have breakfast at the hotel. Unfortunately the link to the website that I booked had been shut down by then and I couldn’t have a look or show what I had done. This actually impacted quite a few people at the conference and a few people were disappointed by this. What frustrated me is that I believe that I could have booked the room cheaper using another website. When I asked to speak to a manger I was told to email someone. A few other little things that happened was me ordering a kids pasta and being given an adult serving and being charged for one, but this was altered when I spoke to the person who delivered the room service. I also asked if my room would be available early and was told that I would receive a call when it would be ready, but never received a call.

I was organiser of an event in the hotel for close to 100 people, for 2 days, including use of the convention centre and a dinner. Unfortunately, over the three years that I came to the hotel for the same purpose, the impression from myself and local people who talk to me is the same: high prices for what it is offered, extra unexpected costs that we are not made aware of on check-in, and food far below the average. Staff is not friendly. My daughter watched two movies on TV and they were charged as an extra cost (we travel around the world and have never seen this). We often have breakfast on Adelaide hotels, such as Pullman, Intercontinental and Grand Chancellor, and they never charge an extra for a barista beverage if you are there for the buffet. Novotel Barossa is the only that does this with a below the average buffet and similar cost as those mentioned previously. The canapés that our guests received during the event, as well as the food during the dinner were pretty low in quality. We are eagerly awaiting to see a better hotel in Barossa.
