Any decent 3 stars hotel should be able to deliver clean rooms, comfortable beds, a decent breakfast and friendly service. To qualify for 4 stars, the hotel needs to step up its service to an impressive level … a compendium in the room including writing paper, envelopes, a pen and instructions on how to operate the aircon and TV, decent 4 star toiletries including a conditioner and a face washer, outstanding service including assistance with luggage, an excellent breakfast staff, and faultless front desk service including correct tourist information and directions if needed. The Novotel in Brussels City Centre claims to be 4 stars, but IMHO fails to meets the 4 stars test. It’s in a great location, but there’s no compendium in the room, no staff in the breakfast room until half an hour after breakfast started, no help with luggage until asked, and when we asked for directions, the front desk staff sent off 180 degrees in the totally wrong direction. They also offered us a map, but admitted it was next to useless. For all these reasons, I’d say the Novotel Brussels City Centre deserved 3 stars, but it certainly doesn’t deserve the 4 stars it claims.

Great location but issue with noise.

Great location in city centre. Only issue was noise levels from street. Hotel is in middle of several roads. Asked to change room and this was sorted quickly and efficiently. New room was facing the church and much quieter. Staff were helpful and quality hotel.

Adequate, but not worth the money

If you are a in a business visit, then this is adequate (and nothing more). For anyone else, this is extremely underwhelming for the price. The rooms are bland, and feel cheap. The bedding, pillows and blankets are uncomfortable. The power outlets in the rooms are also out of order, so good luck charging things. The breakfast is mediocre. I found hair in the buffet several times. The food is tasteless and greasy. They say they have a fitness and wellness area, in reality it’s a 10 meter long pool that’s 0,90M (90 centimeters) at the deep end. We pubic hair in the pool on several occasions, and also a used diaper. The are kids being left unsupervised and entering the pool/spa area without showering. The fitness room is one bench, some dumbbells and Caruso machines.

Hotel with Surprises

Convenient location, friendly staff, standard cleaning. Breakfast offers a relatively good selection, but sometimes you have to wait quite a while for the replenishment of finished food options. I was satisfied with the breakfast selection, although I heard that some other guests were dissatisfied, comparing it to other hotels in this price range. I stayed at this hotel about 7 or 8 years ago, and little has changed since then, at least the room I was given looked quite tired, and there was noticeable mold in some places in the bathroom. Despite the interesting view, the windows were so dirty that the view didn't matter. Despite the late checkout agreed upon with reception at 2 hours later, just half an hour after 11 am, there was a loud knock on the door where the 'do not disturb' sign was hanging. The cleaning lady was very eager to know how long she would have to wait for the checkout. In a hotel where a night in a standard room costs around 150-200 euros, internal communication between staff could be better. Upon checking out, instead of my invoice, I was given a document with all the information of another guest, including their full name, address, contact information, and other identifying details. This document was in a sealed envelope, which I opened at home. I would like to believe that this is an isolated incident, as this is very sensitive information that should be handled properly, and such incidents can lead not only to reputational losses for the hotel but also significant harm and inconvenience for guests.

Great location and a decent hotel

A decent hotel in a great location. I imagine it is often used for business for short visits. I was a tourist on a long weekend. As a wheelchair user the room was good but there was a couple of suggestions I would like to make. The sink and mirror are much too high and the bar beside the toilet was dangerously loose. One thing I didnt understand was why the bar was not open for lunch on the Sunday. Would have liked to have eaten something before I left for the airport.
