Everyone at the front of house was very friendly, pleasant and helpful and all spoke excellent English. Large comfortable bed with additional pillows if needed. Very clean large room. Basic bathroom no creams supplied just hair and body wash. Tea and coffee facilities in the room, fresh milk available from the dining room. Large variety of breakfast items to suit all tastes, fresh eggs cooked to order. Location is close to the old city and all amenities. Quiet area with a large supermarket around the corner should you need one (wine, cheese to bring home??).

The communal areas of the hotel are nice. Comfortable bar area, and a good breakfast. There seemed to be only one lift working, so we often had a very long wait. The bed was comfortable with a decent mattress and four pillows available. The shower had a significant leak and soaked the floor, and refused to maintain one temperature, fluctuating between scolding boiling hot and freezing cold. The biggest difficulty was the temperature of the room. We tried to use our air conditioning but all it did was fill our bedroom with someone else’s cigarette smoke, but didn’t cool the room. We were told that the air conditioning is not switched on in April. The room was stiflingly hot and airless. There’s far too much street noise to sleep with the window open, so instead we slept in a room which must have been at least 26 degrees, with no air movement, and woke with cracking headaches every day. It really was extremely uncomfortable. Based on this I wouldn’t return, or can I recommend the hotel.

The breakfast was superb! One of the best I’ve ever had. Don't miss it. The lobby and restaurant area (the whole entry floor), looks new and modern. A very comfortable stay (great bed!). The room was very nice - a big beds just what we needed. The pool was ok -not big enough to really swim in and not sure it felt "heated'. The staff was okay, although they could have been a little bit nicer. Their English was poor.

Mercure's can be hit or miss - this is a good one (considering how many there are in Lyon to choose from!) Large hotel, nice updated rooms, small gym / pool in the basement. The dining area is charming as well - this would be good for a work conference, as it's a bit outside the central part of the city but only a 10 minute walk, and 20 minute walk from the train station. Could use a few things though - conditioner in the shower, lotion, non-plastic glasses to drink from, and my coffee was only decaf for some reason :(.
