Beware of Construction Work. (Otherwise a good hotel)

Generally, a good hotel. Friendly staff, spacious room and reasonably priced. Location wise it's in the financial district, therefore about 10 minutes tram from the city centre, away from city hustle & bustle. However, during my stay, there was construction work being carried out at the hotel - we were never informed in advance. I was advised on check in that works wouldn't commence before 9am, but it was started at 7am. It genuinely felt & sounded like workers were about to come through the ceiling! I did call reception, but works continued. Not the place to stay if you want to use a hotel for it's intended purpose - a place to sleep!

We had a great overnight stay at the hotel. There was plenty of parking spaces at the front of the hotel when we arrived early afternoon. Check in was quick and the staff member on reception was really friendly. He provided us with a map and highlighted some of the main sites to see during our 24 hours in the area. The tram stop was less than 5 minutes from the hotel and provided fast, easy and free transport to the centre of the city. We had a family room for four of us. A large bed and a sofa bed that accomodated two of us. The sofa bed wasn't the comfortiest I've stayed on but was fine for the one night we were there. The room was clean and provided everything that we needed. We ate at the hotel for both evening meal and breakfast. The quality of the food was really impressive with great choice. The hotel has a room for children with a television, football table and crafts. On the Saturday morning they also has a balloon artist which all the children were fascinated with. We found all staff to be really friendly and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel.

The personnel is undoubtedly the most irrisponsible for this type of job. We woke up at morning by soneone using a drill and a hammer doing some construction next door. It was like working inside our room and ears! First call in the reception nobody did nothing, second call and it took fifteen minutes for the noice to move just a couple of rooms away. So they are doing renovations!!! With floors opento customers. What a joke you are Novotel, shame on you and had better perception on your brand, but facts speak first

The lady at reception was very pleasant. There is very noisy building work going on which we hadn't been informed about. Room very tired and dated. Bathroom smells. Sheets don't cover the whole mattress, so had to remake the beds. Close to a tram stop and food places.
