BAR DE L'HOTEL
Everything but a good nights sleep.

I’ve just finished a 3 night stay at this hotel and whilst there were a few good aspects to this hotel, there is still a lot to be desired. I had booked this hotel before reading the trip advisor reviews. The street the hotel is on contains night and strip clubs and there are a lot of people milling around at all times during the day. As a solo female traveller the street initially started off as quite an intimidating place but there were no problems. Checking into the hotel itself was easy enough and there is free tea and coffee on tap. My room was marked as an inner courtyard ground floor room. This is just off the breakfast seating area in the hotel. Strangely this room has no windows except a glass door. This is not great as it lets very little light in. You can’t pull back the netting on the door as then those in the breakfast area can see you. You also can’t put the light on in the room without shutting the blackout curtain as again you will be seen. If you are looking for a peaceful nights sleep do NOT book this room. From about 10pm onwards people were coming back to the hotel and often they would then sit in the seating area to talk. You can hear all of their conversations and if you’re a light sleeper this will keep you awake. There’s also no chance of a lie in either. The coffee machine is adjacent to your wall and so when someone starts the machine at breakfast, which starts at 6.30am, you can hear that. Ultimately the point of a hotel is to get your head down for a decent nights sleep and whilst I can’t speak for the rest of the hotel the room I was staying in certainly didn’t offer that. That being said, the breakfast was good and the relative ease of getting to places from the hotel was good. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom albeit small was clean.
Only for short stay!!
Bed is the worst i ever had in a hotel, old mattress with a topper, mthat is too long for the bed. Breakfast, good fresh bread, cold eggs ( in fridge, and also the butter, is rock hard). The whole day free coffee and tea, after 19.30 h the machine is put away, het your coffee before that! Parking is terrible, on the Ibis site it says that parking is in hotelspace, suggesting its included. After you paid €18 they tell you parking is very narrow. I have a small car Hyundai i10, it just fits on the ramp down. Better use big parking in same street, also €18. There is no closet for your clothes just a small rack near window, and 6 hooks on the wall next to door. Bathroom very small, but just fits, good shower. Good thing about Luxemburg is free Public Transport, ideal! For (very) short stay it will do, for longer go to better hotel, in a better neighbourhood.
You get what you pay for!

Stopped a couple of nights on my journey to France. Quite basic accommodation. Nightclub opposite and “SEX”shop just round the corner! Quite noisy a lot of banging from next room …. felt quite vulnerable! Clean and comfortable bed. Close to railway station which was main attraction ….
Basic hotel in rough area

We stayed here for 2 nights on our way through to Switzerland and wanted somewhere central. The hotel is a short walk to the central station, but that's the only positive. Apart from the staff being friendly and helpful. The rooms are very basic and small. More like student accommodation with a tiny shower room and nowhere to store 2 suitcases or hang more than 5 or 6 items of clothing. Breakfast was basic too, no hot selection, not even a toaster, and the pastries were of very poor quality. No coffee making facilities in the rooms, had to rely on the machine in breakfast area between 6:30am and 10:30pm. Not good when you want a drink before getting ready to go down to breakfast. The area the hotel is situated in didn't feel safe at night. Pole dancing and strip clubs, men hanging around in groups without purpose, made to feel very uneasy when going to or from the hotel. The hotel was my only poor experience of Luxembourg. The free public transport is fantastic and the city was beautiful. Would definitely return, but not to the Ibis Styles.
Close to the main train station

Reception: Man was helpful and efficient, maps offered at time of checkin, and also advised that all public transport in Luxembourg country is free of charge (at the time of our stay). Room / facilities: Room number 504 is on the 5 floor and is clean, cosy and basic, a queen bed, flat screen TV, small table, 1 chair and ottoman. The room has to much furniture for the 12sq m room size. The room is facing the rear of the hotel and is very quiet. There is a self control air con fan (built into the roof) with a window that opens a small amount. The ibis Styles room has zero room amenities to offer guests, no fridge, no tea/coffee, no safe, no bottled water, which would be expected in a Ibis Styles.….. I have experienced more amenities in a standard ibis hotel when i was in vietnam a few days prior to arrival into Luxembourg. Laundry: Drop off laundry service is available at additional cost. Parking: is available at an additional cost Wifi: Complementary and really good speed. Email address required to access. Conclusion: Very close to the main train station, supermarkets around the corner or next door, old town is approx 1km or a 10 min walk, trams depart regularly to old town direction. The main train station is a 2 min walk also bus and tram stops. Letdowns: Whilst there are many nightclubs in the general area, it did make one feel slightly uncomfortable whilst walking the street. Construction noise during the day is heard from the construction at the end of the street. It was very odd, that upon our checkout the reception man offered us a coffee on departure. Despite entering and exiting the hotel numerous times throughout our stay, we were never offered a coffee. Location / Nearby: Main train station, supermarket around the corner or next door. Old town centre is about a 1km (or 5 mins on the tram), main train station, bus stops and tram stop are a 2 min walk. Getting to hotel: Best use GPS. From the Lux airport, Bus 29 will take you to the main train station this is direct and can take 30 mins depending on traffic. Public Transport is currently free (at the time of our stay)
