Luxury Anniversary mini break

We enjoyed a very indulgent mini break at Sofitel Melbourne for our Wedding Anniversary. We booked a club room but asked to have a room with a walk in shower and this request was happily accommodated. All the staff were so helpful and professional and we were thoroughly spoiled. We must mention Nadia and Hozannah in the Club Lounge and Alice in 35 for breakfast. The hotel was luxurious and despite the busy time of year never seemed busy or noisy. The room on level 41 while not big was perfectly configured and had every amenity, the bed was superbly comfortable. We will definitely return

5 star and more in every way. Bedding, mattress comfort, view, linens, room service, breakfast, setting, location, pool and gym. Well worth the Accor membership and outlay for special occasions or business (we were both). We will be returning. Thank you to all the staff at every department.

High Tea makes a marvelous afternoon

We had Festive High Tea on the 35 Level of Sofitel and had a marvelous afternoon tea. We started with Cold Sandwiches, then had Hot Savories. We ended with Sweets, which included freshly baked scones. We were enjoying ourselves, especially as we were following our High Tea selection with Christmas cakes. We had non-alcoholic Champaign, on top of the red malted wine, which was notably spicy. The staff were helpful and helped us enjoy our High Tea.

Great hotel well located close to all shops, tram services and great views of the city

Stayed for four nights at the Sofitel On Collins room was very nice large bathroom okay? We had breakfast included which was excellent. We went to the buffet most days. We also had access to the club lounge located on level 35 with great views of Melbourne city Centre MCG and tennis arena in the evening for canapés and drinks which was really nice especially Eleanor who made us very welcome and was very chatty. The food and the drinks were very nice with a great variety. The hotel itself as well located very clean and all staff were excellent

Disappointing Stay

I have stayed many times at the Sofitel Melbourne and this was my second stay as a platinum member. Both this stay and my last stay we received a room in the exact same location. Possibly the worst room in the hotel. Second room in from the corner looking into the Macquarie building. I have never once received an upgrade when I ask and are always told they are fully booked, pretty unlucky I guess. We have stayed at the Sofitel Brisbane and Sofitel Darling harbour this year for the first time so now are able to compare the hotels. Brisbane was quite good but Sydney is outstanding. Amazing champagne check in at the club lounge and beautiful upgrade to a suite. The food quality and variety was also outstanding and 5 star quality. Melbourne afternoon tea only offer a small tray of cakes and 2 slices of French stick each, no other savoury options or fruit. The hot Canapes were quite good Saturday night but Sunday night they were very disappointing. On a positive note the staff in the club lounge were excellent and the drink selection was very good. The pillows also very nice but we both found the bed was hard. Probably won’t be staying here again as there are better hotels around like the two Pullmans.
