Overpriced, over managed and understaffed

I’ve stayed at a few Accor places and was considering signing up for the plus membership. The location of this hotel is great close to everything and central The foyer is nice and appears updated but once you enter the rooms, you realise you’ve overpaid. I was in a family room, a king bed and a single for my mum, myself and a friend. The bathroom was small which tested the gymnastic skills. We attended a musical had a few drinks and arrive back to our hotel room at 2045. We had the tv on 15vol and we were chatting between the 3 of us normal noise level no yelling, no screaming, no persistent loud music, no louder than the tv, maybe laughing occasionally because we’re funny. We got a call at 2150 to inform us there had been a complaint about the level of noise coming from our room. After the call I looked at the time and called the reception and asked if there was a noise curfew, they said we needed to respect the other guests. (Which we understand) then they stated multiple guests had come to the desk to complain about the noise coming from the room. Although, we didn’t hear any of the doors open in our hallway and they aren’t quiet. What blew our minds the most is that, it was Saturday night in the city surrounded by bars and clubs which were a constant noise and it wasn’t even 2200. The area its self and building itself is very noisy, so it feels like a long term issue and they’re over managing it to the point that you can’t have a conversation. Noisiness is a common keyword in the reviews on here. Additionally, there express check in and check out and there is 1 person working the desk and it takes a long time.

Great location, but lacked the basics

Overall our stay was OK, but nothing to rage about. Firstly, the good stuff… the hotel is situated in a great location, close to shops, trams, and various restaurants. The staff were generally attentive and helpful. The not so good stuff… we had a decent wait to check in with only one person managing check-ins (initially). From our family’s standpoint, the room was fairly small, cold and uninviting. We found it odd that most basic amenities were not provided and had to be asked for, and that they only cleaned the room once in the four days we were there. You can ask for more towels etc but it becomes troublesome to keep having to ask for stuff, that most hotels provide as basic. We weren’t unhappy with our stay, but definitely room for improvement.

I enjoyed staying at the Mercure Welcome, Little Bourke St. A professional and efficient 24 hr front desk. The breakfast team did an amazing job with the cooking and the service, and the housekeeping was done to a high standard and professional, so i was very pleased with my stay here overall. Its in a very handy location so i would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a great place to stay in the heart of melbourne! I hope to be back one day very soon! Thankyou!

Terrible, noisy and tiny room with noisy heater fan, noisy neighbours and noisy street. Definately would not recommend.

One of the noisiest hotels I have ever stayed in. Both inside and outside in the street. The noise was horrific I had no sleep. Inside walls paper thin, outside felt like I was sleeping out in the street .. terrible. Fan also rattled all night. Rooms were tiny as well. We were on level 4 if you are staying perhaps try and get one of the higher up rooms, you might pay more but you also might get some sleep. Would not recommend and would never stay here again.

GREAT LOCATION!

A great place to call our home for a few days. Very well located, truly in the heart of Melbourne Shopping Area/ Restaurants/ Musuems and others. Public transport are at your doorstep. The hotel is fully secured after 10pm and front desk is attended 24 hrs. Staffs were friendly and very helpful. Our room was surprisingly quite spacious considering it’s quite an old building. No minibar but works well if you are staying for a few days and stock it up with what you need. Basic decor but works and the room is clean. Basic coffee/ tea provided. A few things that disrupted our sleep are from other guests on same floor banging the doors and coming back too happy from a few drinks hence voice was loud and some swearing past midnight. Our A/C was also quite noisy. As Accor members, we got an great members price.
