My friend booked us in here because she loved the idea of chocolate hour and Ice cream which she understood to be free and available 24 hours. We arrived and were greeted very nicely. Chocolate hour was great (I am not a big chocolate lover but my friend is) they had Easter macrons which were chocolate but also hot cross bun flavoured! The rooms were well set out but very cold even with the thermostat set to 30 degrees (C) There was a vent that seems to have cold air coming in directly from outside and we couldn't sit at the desk without freezing. After falling outside and hurting myself we went back to the hotel and asked for an ice pack (something that we would have expected any hotel or business to have as part of a safe workplace) and were told that they don't have one, so i resorted to a wet cold flannel which didn't really do the job. Hotel staff were always friendly but at times seemed out of their depth.

Movenpick over M Social

Stayed at both due to unexpected circumstances, and liked Movenpick better for several reasons. The staff at Movenpick got us a room at 11:00 am after our long flight, making our first day much better. M Social said they would try (when we had to switch hotels), but kept saying it would just be a little longer, for 3 hours. Bed and pillows more comfortable, shower better and AC less noisy at Movenpick. M Social has views of the harbour and is a reasonably good hotel, but I would not recommend it over Movenpick.

This hotel was a big letdown. My wife and I were only spending one night in Auckland and I thought that spending a bit more money on a "5 star" near the water would be a fun evening. We were given room 209, I requested a higher floor but was told that it was not available. Do not accept rooms 207-210. The window is eye level with a deck used for events and parties. I did call the front desk to make sure that there was nothing going on that night. Room itself is ok but it was a Friday night and the party by the cruise ships was going on till 2 or 3am. Zero soundproofing on the windows and it was extremely loud all night. Not worth the money and we would not stay here again.

Nicely located hotel and relaxing

The placement of this hotel is right at the corner of the two main streets in Auckland . This hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. They allowed us to precheck out bags so we could walk around until the correct check-in time. The foom was nice and clean and very comfortable. Our view was looking at other tall buildings and the one main street. The morning breakfast was a buffet style with enough variety to please most people. It snack bar was nicely stocked but a bit pricey but the tea and coffee selection made up for it. No microwave but a small fridge, expresso machine a pot to boil water for tea, Coffee or chocolate drink.
