This is a quite beautiful hotel in the centre of the town with the lake within easy walking distance. Everything about the hotel is stunning except perhaps for the pool which is frankly too small for a hotel of this size offering only about 18 loungers. Make sure to take the breakfast option as this is of the highest standard and you can sample the wonderful Hanoi Egg Coffee. There’s plenty to visit all round the hotel and walking to Train Street for example is perfectly feasible. In summary, a delightful location to end a stay in Hanoi.

Beautiful hotel with large room & bathroom. The breakfast buffet was the best I've ever seen. Staff were excellent and I would love to stay here again. It was a convenient location and you could walk to several landmarks & many restaurants nearby.

Best hotel in Hanoi. Historical property in impeccable conditions. Attentive service, fine details, the stay in this hotel is definitely one to remember. Dang Duy gave us a very nice hotel tour. The Beau Lieu restaurant is also remarkable

Exceptional hotel & staff - check your credit card statements & charges

We booked our trip with a staff discount code. It was up one check out and then again after I noticed multiple extra charges in my credit card which totalled much more than the total expected amount for both stays we had during our trip. We enquired before check out and again after. Finally we received confirmation they have overcharged us. Would we stay again? As frequent travellers and with Sofitel or Accor hotels, for the amazing service, staff and hotel yes although we would pay a non refundable rate vs the flexible rates.

A comfortable stay in the Opera Wing, Prestige Suite

Strengths: The hotel provides high-quality service, with staff members ensuring that guests' needs are met with attentiveness and professionalism. I particularly appreciated the Majordome service, which added a personalized touch to our stay. The executive lounge team was consistently welcoming, always serving with a smile. I also enjoyed the hotel’s effort in curating the lounge library, which featured a diverse selection of books and even board games—each visit offered something new to explore. For breakfast, I preferred dining at the Vietnamese restaurant, where the staff’s warmth created a pleasant experience. Weaknesses: While the hotel carries historical significance, it has been more than a decade since its last renovation, and some facilities show signs of aging. For instance: The pool is relatively small for a hotel of this caliber. The sauna is dimly lit, with a gap in the door allowing cool air to seep in. The bathroom mirror had excess paint on the red mosaic tiles. The hotel’s fly control could be improved, as I noticed flies at the fruit stations of different restaurants during breakfast on two out of three days. Despite these minor shortcomings, the stay was enjoyable, thanks to the reliable service and thoughtfully designed amenities.
