The hotel is located a five minute walk from the main train station and is a ten minute walk from the old town and Kings Square and the museum district. You know what you are getting from an Ibis hotel and this doesn’t fail to deliver. The staff are friendly, the bar is cheap (and the wine very good), the rooms are fine, the beds are comfortable and the shower works well enough. Good value for a short stay in Munich.

Great position for the main train station. Lots of food and drink options just steps away. Rooms as expected but high cleanliness standards are noticeable. Staff excellent from start to finish. Bar prices very reasonable. Breakfast a little overpriced but ok.

Perfect for a short city break during Oktoberfest. We stayed here the first weekend of Oktoberfest and were delighted with the hotel. It’s very close to the station and the Theresienwiese. Although there are prettier streets in Munich, the location was great for us. The rooms are compact but very clean and equipped with most of what you’ll need. I missed having a mini fridge and an iron, although I believe an iron is available from reception. Had we planned on spending more of our trip in the hotel we might have opted for somewhere that offered larger rooms, but if you just need a base to sleep, shower and have a no frills breakfast, this is perfect. We chose a rate which included breakfast and although it wasn’t a full hot buffet it was perfect for us with a few hot options and the usual cheeses, meats and pastries. Some of our friends stayed at a ‘higher end chain’ hotel on the other side of the station the same weekend and although their hotel, room and offerings were much more luxurious, the €900 more they spent on their hotel and breakfast made us VERY glad we chose the Ibis. One thing to note. At the time of writing, there is construction a little further down the street. Check if that’s ongoing and maybe ask for room at the back if so.

For a budget hotel the Ibis Munich City is pretty damned good! Great location near the central railway station and close to two or three excellent Turkish and Persian restaurants which are also exceptionally good Room sizes small but clean and decent bathroom Staff at the hotel are marvellous and very helpful for extra towels, restaurant advice etc Overall a good hotel

An extremely basic hotel and possibly the worst Ibis I’ve stayed in. So many “features” not actually available or on offer, as advertised. No in-room safe, no hot snacks available at bar. Luckily there is takeaway food available in nearby street. Very close to train station but there are other hotel options so consider these instead. Reception staff were OK, not overly friendly.
