Badly needs renovation

Needs sound reinforcements!

1) Technoogy: no issues here, TV, Cards and AC all worked although they did struggle to find my booking on their system. Bring E-Mail confirmation. 2) Cleanliness: no issues here. A small piece of fluff on the bed linen was the only thing found which is negligible. 3) Bed: This is an odd one. Very firm yet surprisingly comfortable. No Jokes this bed really was superb, the pillows were hit and miss though as i suspect 2 were replaced recently which were great but 2 were old and not that supportive. Request new pillows and you will be fine. 4) Sleep quality. Oh dear. I can tel this hotel hadn't heard the term 'acoustic engineer'. All the doors seemed to be amplified instead of queitened when opend and closed making sleep very tricky despite the solid blackout curtains. A row in the street (presumed street might be the bar) below was still audible enough to keep you awake. 5) Facilities. A mixed bag really. The Kettle was standard farye, not quick but better than those nespresso machines which never work. The Hairdryer had all the power of Nick Clegg though so bring your own. Plenty of power sockets unless you have an EV in which case you have very little options. Recommend coming in by train as the front car park entrance was frankly dangerous (from a pedestrian perspective). Overall it's a shame this one. Great beds and despite some odd layout quirks (toilet is in a seperate room to the shower adjacent as well as a door from the hall with the bathroom/shower room into the bedroom) a solid clean hotel but you will need earplugs/or antihistamines (for some reason they make you sleep easier even if they say non-drowsy).

What a shame. Staff clearly overstretched as not enough of them at reception and especially the restaurant . They all look as miserable as the punters trying to find a clean table for breakfast. Breakfast was a grim affair. Very little choice and poorly cooked. Had to ask for practically every element. Feels like they’ve valued engineered every aspect of the hotel, no water in room, no toiletries, cheap loo roll, no early check in for loyal Accor members, minimal staff cover etc, toilet not flushing Will not return.

We were in Sheffield to see family, this hotel being our meeting point. Check in slow, only one person on Reception. £18 per day for parking! Bar: firstly no-one available to serve on a Friday afternoon so we left and went somewhere else. When we returned later, almost everything we asked for was not available , or the server didn't know what it was. On the Saturday early evening, I was told I'd just had the last bottle of Pinot! Room was a good size but could do with a refresh, carpets very grubby. Breakfast average. Only redeeming feature was the location but I'm sure we'll find somewhere else next time.

Hotel reception bar and restaurant really nicely decorated. Only issue is that makes you think the rooms will be the same. They aren’t!! Outdated, artex walls dirty carpet. Very very basic fixtures and the room smelt of sewage. I was there one night otherwise I would have moved. 4 star reception but a 1 star room at best. We ate at hotel and there was only us in restaurant. Menu basic. I chose the fish and chips and when it arrived the whole meal looked like it was from Iceland. I’m not being negative about Iceland but when you eat in a 4 star hotel you expect better. Fish fillet was full of bones. I went to bed starving!! Breakfast was okay. Some things like hash browns had been left under lamps too long. We had a conference there and lunch was okay. I travel a lot but wouldn’t stay here again
