Harsh to rate a hotel so badly before it undergoes a 9month refurbishment, but if you’re looking to book this hotel for a break at the end of August, would highly recommend finding somewhere else. It’s run down, and winding down. Closes on 1/9/23 for the refurb. I’m sure once it’s bought upto modern day standards / decor it will be right up there.

Don’t stay in the summer! No AC and tiny windows. Mediocre breakfast. Location is good, and nice bartender and drinks. Very very hot! Horrible for 3 people. We stayed as part of a GAte1 tour and very disappointed in this selection of a hotel. Maybe off season is nice, but I wouldn’t recommend.

If you’d like to stay in the old part of town that has charm, this is the place to be. The Novotel isn’t a great and luxurious hotel, but it was comfortable and we loved the location. We were impressed by the guy at the reception area who checked us in. He spoke perfect English. There were plenty of sitting areas in the lobby. The large lobby area also included a bar and a breakfast area. Outside was a swimming pool, although we did not use it because the weather was fairly cold. Breakfast was quite satisfactory, with hot and cold foods to choose from. Bread lovers will love the bread area. The room was fine. The temperature was comfortable and we were able to adjust the temperature to our liking. I saw families with children staying there, so it must be good for families. They had play areas for children also.

Perfect hotel for a family

This hotel had everything we could ask for as a family. Fantastic location, close to train station and main tourist areas. Check in was seemless and welcomed by the friendly staff. With teenagers, the swimming pool and table tennis were a great addition to the stay and avoided any times of boredom for them. There isn’t a g reat deal of lunch or evening food available here but there are plenty of takeaway options close by. This can be eaten in the bar area with plates and cutlery provided. A much cheaper option also if you want to avoid the mega expensive restaurants of Brugge. All in all, for the price, location and facilities you can’t go wrong with this hotel. It was a great find!

A wonderful experience in Bruges

This was a gem of a find - it's in an excellent location and very quiet! I was there with my husband and 3 children (14,13,10) and my inlaws. The rooms are big and quiet - even a separate toilet from the bathroom - and I didn't hear a peep from the other guests which was amazing. Yes some of the decor is a bit tired in some places but it was clean and the bed was the comfiest I've been in for a long time. The breakfast was amazing and so many choices, you won't be disappointed. Our kids ate free and they loved the waffle making machine. Parking is very easy in the underground car park right next to the hotel. Unfortunately you don't get a discount on parking when staying with the hotel - it was 30 euros for us to park there for two nights. The weather when we stayed was a bit horrendous - it rained the whole full day we were there - but the outside pool was still open! It was heated to about 24C and so we went swimming in the rain (and so did some other families!). I was impressed that the pool was even open. No lifeguard so you do need to keep an eye on the kids - and there is a deep end. If it had been warm and sunny it would have been bliss. It's very easy to walk to all the main sites and there are some restaurants just 2 - 5 minutes walk away. We tried the Indian just down the road which was very nice, and a local Flemish place too. Beware that there is no hotel restaurant which we found out after hoping to have dinner there one evening. They offer some pizzas and bar snacks which you can also have in your room as well, but it wasn't going to be suitable for our family of 5 plus the inlaws! You can also order from deliveroo. I would definitely come back to stay here if in Bruge again.
