Very bad experience.

Very poor experience at this hotel. We stayed for three nights and parked our car in the hotel car park for one night. No mention was made of a charge for parking. I've now received a penalty notice for £100. The hotel have now told me it costs £23 a day to park in their car park and they refuse to cancel the penalty notice. Needless to say, I won't be staying there (or at any Accor hotel) ever again.
It's No Premier Inn...... But the staff are lovely

Pros: The location is great for visiting the O2 and it couldn't be more central to Greenwich if you are visiting the Naval college or Observatory. Onsite parking is a bonus in central London especially if you have mobility issues like me (but pricey at £23 for a day) The staff were VERY friendly, welcoming, polite and helpful. Onsite Cafe Rouge is a bonus for breakfast which was delicious. CONS: Rooms are VERY basic for price paid. (Not even a bin.) Felt like a budget hotel although prices comparable to Premier Inn. The bed was uncomfortable. The lighting very poor in dark dingy bathroom. Didn't use the shower for this reason. Air con in room 115 didn't work at all and windows open over car park bin. Room 115 had a very strange, noticeable unpleasant smell. The other room I had booked 116 did not have this smell so obv a problem with this room. Adjoining rooms were available but despite being in a family party and specifically requesting being near / adjoining my daughter's they were placed across and down the corridor in 116 and instead strangers were placed in the adjoining room. The doors are not soundproof, I could hear their loud conversation word for word and I didn't feel very safe and secure.. I placed a chair Infront of the adjoining door during night. I 'might' stay again if in area and I could guarantee not getting smelly room 115... and a more honest price for facilities.

The staff, quality of rooms, restaurant, and parking make this IBIS equal to many Novotels we have stayed in.

The staff at Greenwich IBIS are polite, considerate, cheerful, and welcoming, The foyer, reception, halls and rooms are all high quality and recently newly carpeted and renovated with hard floors in the rooms and modern fittings making this now the equivalent of many more expensive Novotels from the same Accor chain. We love Novotel, it is my favourite hotel chain, so the comparison here is not to disparage Novotel, but to show how good this “Budget” IBIS hotel is. Many of the IBIS we have stayed have been significantly “budget” and that fits the price. What that means in practice is that not all the aspects of an IBIS can be of the same quality: many have nice receptions, but the rooms have been in some cases not good. The IBIS in Greenwich, however, has an overall, a better experience than the last two Novotels we have stayed in, which are supposed to be a higher quality. As well as the hotel itself, a significant enhancement to this IBIS is the beautiful Cafe Rouge restaurant that has an entrance to the hotel reception and serves the hotel breakfast as well as being the hotel restaurant. There is no room service at any IBIS, I think, but outside in Greenwich High Street there are many food outlets, so it is easy to room picnic. We watched the Miami Grandprix in the room by plugging our laptop into the super large TV with an HDMI cable, and enjoyed that with our free glasses of wine from our Accor Membership. Everything works, the plugs, the lights, the window, curtains, shower - which is not what can be said of the Novotel we are currently in. We used this IBIS in Greenwich as a two night stop, one night to watch a gig at O2, a boat ride away, and then as the first leg of our journey via Eurotunnel, to stay at a Novotel in Holland which is where I am writing this review and to be very honest it feels like we have gone down a whole set of stars. The Novotel staff here in Holland, like all Accor staff are all very good, but we woke up this morning and both said how much better the IBIS in Greenwich felt, from the comfort of the bed and pillows, to the basic room cleanliness and facilities. The only difference is this Novotel room has a safe, which is one thing I do not think any IBIS hotel has, but the IBIS in Greenwich has secure card-access lifts and stairs. Considering the IBIS is supposed to be a budget hotel compared to the Novotel we are in now, I had to write this review, clearly the staff at Greenwich are taking a budget hotel up another level and I think that deserves recognition. The parking here as well is brilliant, not usual for a central city location to be ao convenient, inexpensive, and easy.

When we went into our room there was a haze and very strong smell of fried food - like a takeaway kitchen. We checked in and had to go straight out to an event, so we opened the window and hoped for the best. The shower was rubbish, and the aircon in the room didn't already to work. Glad we were only there for one night!

Fantastic location close to Greenwich and cutty sark stations! Friendly staff especially at check in and out! We were in room 9 on the ground floor, room was compact and had everything we needed for a 4 night stay! We booked the hotel as my husband was running the London marathon and the start line was a short walk through Greenwich Park! No hand towels just two large bath towels but that’s Ibis standard. Good heating controls and clean comfortable bed! Close to all local amenities. Will definitely return to this hotel in the future!
