Good location, a few minutes' walk from the station (Hauptbahnhof) and close to the metro stop. The center of Munich is within walking distance of the hotel. Nice spacious room. Free minibar in the room; is also continually replenished. Excellent breakfast, large breakfast room, lots of choice Very friendly staff

The hotel experience was very good - value for money. The room and hotel were very clean. I was impressed by the room size - we had a standard room but it was much bigger than I expected). Overall the room is very nice, having also an armchair where you can rest. A very nice touch (that I have not experienced in many, many years, even in 5 stars hotels) is the free mini-bar. I very much appreciated it and applause Mercure for this - do not change this policy!!! The room temperature was very good (quite warm - usually unexpected in German cities). Breakfast was nice as well, with many options you can choose from. The hotel reception also gets a nice rate form us, they were very kind and responsive all the time and also were opened to store out luggage as we arrived earlier than checkin time and left later, after checkout. Hotel location is ok: close to the city center, ~10-15 mins walking to Marienplatz, 5-7 mins to train station. What puts you off are the beggars you see on the nearby streets, nothing bad happened but you get the feeling that you would like to avoid returning too late to the hotel. However, there are many hotels in the area (another 3-4 on the exact same street as Mercure) so many people on the road at all times. All in all I highly recommend the hotel, and if I am ever in Munich I will choose this hotel again.

Very pleasant stay

Enjoyed a great stay at the Mercure Munich City Centre. Accor Gold status was recorded, and I received the complimentary room upgrade to a room that I can wholeheartedly call very well appointed (with modern appliances), spacious and comfortable. I chose this specific Accor property due to its location which is fantastic for long distance (airport can easily be reached by S-Bahn) travel from the Hauptbahnhof (main station) just a few steps away as well as to reach key Munich sights (e.g. Statchus and Marienplatz) on foot or by subway. Lastly, but clearly not least, very friendly and competent staff that made check-in and check-out a breeze.

A hotel to return to next time

First of all the staff was amazing. Kind, professional with a desire to help and all with a smile on his face. The room was spacious and very clean. The shower and toilet were also spacious and clean. The breakfast is full of goodness. Great cheeses, plenty of sausages, different breads, all kinds of yogurt and cornflakes, eggs made different shapes and much more. The hotel is in an excellent location for walking around

Unpleasant Neighbourhood and Overpriced

I spent three nights in the Mercure München City Centre towards the end of September, possibly a bad time to visit due to Oktoberfest (which I didn’t wish to attend). The hotel is near the main railway station so there are good transport links to get to other places in the city, but there’s not much near the hotel itself other than the railway station and more hotels. The hotel has very retro decor, lots of green and brown, which (depending on your perspective) could seem either cosy or just dated. There is a bar and restaurant on the ground floor. I had one meal there and thought it was overpriced and very average. My room was fairly spacious and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was also a good size, but the shower was not very good and the lighting in both the bathroom and main room was very dim. My room was on the second floor and overlooked a small courtyard, which I expected to mean that it would be quiet, but it was very noisy. My first night, I was kept awake until 3am by very loud music. On subsequent nights there wasn’t music but the sound of people working in the kitchen, coming into the courtyard to empty rubbish, including bottles which make a horrendous noise. I could also hear other hotel guests talking. The cost of the hotel was very high (which I assumed was because of Oktoberfest), but other things like the cost of laundry were also much higher than in other places I stayed. I didn’t think it was good value. Unless you want to be near the railway station to catch an early train, I would recommend staying somewhere else closer to the more interesting parts of town. Also, avoid travelling to this hotel from the airport by taxi, it is incredibly expensive (EUR120). I arrived late after a very delayed flight and got a taxi because I was tired, but I could have got a train for not much less effor and about the tenth of the cost.
