We stayed at the Mercure Grand Place for a couple of nights when visiting the Christmas markets in December. The hotel is in an incredible location being right in the centre and close to the Old Town along with many restaurants. We also thought the service throughout from the team was really good - they were very helpful. We also had breakfast with our reservation which was buffet style with a good selection of cereals, cheeses, yogurts, breads, pancakes and the opportunity to cook your eggs fresh. The downside to breakfast is that is located in a small corner close to the bar and is hard to reach the food when it's busy. Sadly, at busy times there aren't enough tables and again you will need to use the bar tables which are low, coffee style and we found hard to eat at. The rooms are functional and clean. The bed was comfy and there is a TV, fridge and small table / desk on wheels but it's cosy to put it politely. There was a shower which was very good but the shower door didn't fit that well so you did end up soaking the floor. If you are looking for a central hotel with great staff and don't mind a small room then the Mercure would be ideal.

We had a lovely welcome at reception upon arrival. The lady was so helpful and gave us a map and told us where some landmarks and events were. She recommended some nice restaurants. The rooms were clean. Not a lot of storage for clothes and a bit dated but clean. Housekeeping everyday if you need it. Basic coffee making facilities if you want it. Our room was opposite a very busy street with bars along it so it was noisy at night so take earplugs. The hotel is very central though so perfect location. Breakfast was help yourself but adequate and fresh, hot and cold. Bar was limited and staff were few during breakfast and in the evening. We came for the Christmas markets. Lille is pretty. Cobbled streets lots of nice boutiques and eateries. This hotel was 10 minutes walk from the Eurostar. All in all a nice stay. Not a 4 star but a decent 3 star in my opinion.

We visited as part of a coach tour. We have stayed a few times and it has been a very mixed experience, we find the rooms very cramped. Our recent visit was very disappointing as we were kept awake by loud music that went on all night. I was particularly concerned for our drivers who were kept awake with the music, and flashing lights.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel we stayed yesterday. We had a privileged room which included breakfast and I’d book this because I wanted a bath. First of all our room was next door to the elevator which did not please me but the only alternative was a low floorbut seeing as we booked it the day before then I’m guessing there was very little options available. The lady on reception was lovely very friendly and helpful. The room itself as the disappointing bit small in size and to be honest they’re only in mind you’re in a old building. The rooms were designed in a very modern unattractive Way. The bathroom was tiny what I did like was the two Juliet balconies that we had one in the bedroom one in the bathroom that opened out facing the clocktower that was lovely. I also enjoyed the Luxe amenities, but there were some really cheap things in the room for instance the close range make up mirror in the bathroom was cheap and one of the chairs in the bedroom was stained. There was no free water in the room but there were three fruit juices that were complementary. The bath was small and not a soaker table, the hotel is very well placed to be able to see anything. Breakfast was good for four star hotel. There was plenty of options. The orange juice was not fresh but cartoned but everything else was more than adequate and as I said the service was lovely so value for money now but well placed if I return to Leo I would definitely look at another hotelparking was close by an underground car park and we paid €15 for 22 hours. The beds were comfortable the pillows memory foam.
