Lovely hotel well located, our room had a wonderful view across the bay. Breakfast was exceptional and the staff friendly. The only negative thing was that there are not enough coat hangers but that seems to be an issue at every hotel we have stayed at. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, most are just alright but there are some real gems around.

Great location but pity about brick hard beds

The hardest bed I've ever experienced. The hotel had put a couple of thin mattress toppers/protectors which made zero difference. We have stayed at this hotel twice previously in larger rooms with softer mattresses within the last 16 months but apparently these are new mattresses but far far too firm. My wife has Athritis in her hips and also suffers from sciatica so she was in pain after 1 night. The hotel were not able to help further so we purchased a memory foam topper which made the bed tolerable for the rest of the week. In truth the room, which was a superior double, room 257, was tired with cracks in the popcorn ceiling and a grayish carpet that needs replacing. The room looks onto a roof garden with astro turf but has non safety windows so if you left the window open someone could easily access the room. It's a pity as this hotel has a fantastic location and good staff but some of its rooms are tired and in need of refurbishment clearly. Unfortunately I won't be back to see any much needed refurbishment.

Hotel is disappointingly run down and scruffy and in need of refurbishment. Corridors and room smelt of old carpet and were in need of serious updating. Two lights out in bathroom, dirty towel left from previous guest, toilet seat did not fit properly and no body lotion though two hair conditioners! Front desk staff were nice and helpful and the location is good but for what i paid i could have stayed in a much better hotel. I would not recommend or go back.

I’m an Accor member, stay at their Mercures and Novotels all over Europe. Mercures especially can be very inconsistent. This one was a good one. Expensive (as expected in August), but good overall. I like the Mercure beds and pillows, the room (privilege seaview) was spacious, the bathroom too. Nespresso machine is always a plus. Enough closet space too. Sockets ok (would have liked some usb sockets in 2024 though). Windows can open and there’s a small balcony (you can stand outside, not sit). Fridge too. There was a lounge chair construction attached to the desk which was more arty than actually comfortable, but I moved the small table and chair to the balcony door and that worked. Minus in the bathroom: smelly slow running shower drain (not unusual in Mercures and Novotels). And a bit too much mould to my liking. Elsewhere in the room there was dirt too. Would be nice if they would totally deep clean their rooms one by one in winter, beyond what a housekeeper on a tight schedule can so (respect to those people, always). Breakfast was good. Plenty of healthy options (7-8 different fruits, lots of nuts and seeds too, you can make your own eggs in mini-pans etc). Free steel water bottle and free water fountains on every floor. Friendly, helpful staff (I’ve read some negative reviews here, so I’m only speaking from my experience). Airco was remarkably good (it often isn’t in France). And of course, the location is what you really pay for. By the sea, plenty of restaurants nearby, supermarket and pharmacies within a 5 minute walk, 5 minutes from the Cours Seleya market. I’m going to stay here again. Although maybe not in August next time.

Bit of a let down

I want to like this hotel, as the staff were pretty nice. But I just feel like it is a big chain that does nothing but want to cut costs. Before I start with the negatives, it did have great block out blinds and sound proof glass. This blocked out 90% of noise and light from the bustling street below. Now I get the whole ‘you don’t really need fresh towels everyday’ thing. But paper cups? Even in the mini-bar? Who wants to pay good money for a hotel and then make a coffee from a Nespresso machine into a paper cup with a wooden stick stirrer? It’s also handy to have a teaspoon for example to easy personally bought snacks. Unfortunately, this is just illustrative of further disappointments. CLEANLINESS - overall it just didn’t feel very clean. The towels were old and thin, the water bins didn’t have bags (where do I put my used floss). The ceiling above the shower had grime and hair that wasn’t mine. Overall I would not book this hotel again.
