Singapore in 48 Hours

Travel Itinerary

This 48-hour itinerary starts in the afternoon, and will be great for hotel guests who have taken the morning flight and have just checked-in.

Day 1 Afternoon

Check-in at ibis Styles Singapore on MacPherson at 2pm. Freshen up and then hop on the hotel shuttle to Serangoon MRT station.
Take the Northeast (Purple) Line to Chinatown.
In most large cities, Chinatowns are residential enclaves for the Chinese diaspora. In a country with a majority Chinese population, Singapore’s Chinatown is more of a heritage and conservation site for the Singaporean Chinese. Places of worship like the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum and the Sri Mariamman Temple also showcase Singapore’s multiculturalism, by having a Hindu temple and a Buddhist temple within the same enclave.
That being said, the Chinatown area is also a great street for shopping: along the main Temple street, you can find unique gifts and souvenirs, such as calligraphy work or cheongsams.

Day 2 Morning

Have your complimentary breakfast at the Chat & Chow Restaurant. Take the hotel shuttle once again to Tai Seng MRT station.
From here, you have one of two choices.
If you’re up for some fun-filled physical activity, take the Circle Line to Stadium to visit the newly constructed Singapore Sports Hub. If not, skip ahead for a second, more relaxing option.
The Singapore Sports Hub is an integrated sports, lifestyle, and entertainment centre with state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure. We suggest heading to the Water Sports Centre for a morning of fun-filled kayaking or boating in the waters of the Kallang Basin. You’ll be treated to some great views of Singapore that you won’t find on postcards. Don’t forget to apply some waterproof sunscreen!
Once you’re done, shower and change at the Sports Hub before heading to our next site. From Stadium MRT station, take the Circle Line to Dhoby Ghaut, and switch to the Northeast Line to HarbourFront.

Day 2 Late Morning

Alternatively, take the the Circle Line to Bras Basah for museum and gallery galore.
From Bras Basah MRT station, you can visit as many as three galleries/museums: the Peranakan Museum, the National Museum, and the Singapore Art Museum, also called SAM.
Each of them offers something unique. Peranakan Museum showcases and preserves the culture and heritage of one of Singapore's ethnic groups, its namesake, the Peranakan people. The National Museum, Singapore's oldest museum, focuses on exhibits about Singapore's unique and vibrant history. The Singapore Art Museum, a converted catholic school, curates contemporary art in Singapore, Southeast Asia and Asia, and is the country's first art museum.
Once you're done, walk to Bras Basah MRT station and take the Circle Line to Dhoby Ghaut. From there, switch to the Northeast Line to HarbourFront.

Day 2 Afternoon

Exit the train station into VivoCity. We'll be heading to Sentosa in a bit, but have your lunch at VivoCity instead as food places in Sentosa tend to be limited and very expensive.
The large mall has dining options for all budgets. You can have some great, inexpensive food at the food courts, or if you want something fancier, there are lovely restaurants with indoor and outdoor seating that overlook Sentosa.
After your lunch, take the Sentosa Express monorail to, you guessed it, Sentosa.

There's everything. You can head to Lucky Plaza for some great Filipino food, or to ION Sky for a more luxurious (and slightly pricey) dining experience, where you’re treated to a full panoramic view of Singapore from the 56th floor.

Day 3 Morning

It's an early morning! Head to Little India MRT station, which is serviced by both the Northeast Line and Downtown Line.
The Little India district used to house ethnic Indian minorities in colonial Singapore. Today, it remains a hub for Indian food and culture.
You can have your breakfast at some dosai places. Light, fluffy, and thin savour pancakes, they're a great breakfast option!
There's so much to do here. You can go shopping again at Mustafa Centre, a large 24-hour hypermarket with unbeatable prices. Additionally, small shops that line the streets sell various Indian products and sundries, and are rarely found outside Little India in Singapore. You can purchase a sari, or pick up some unique Indian sweets.
Have your lunch in Little India before heading back to MacPherson. Tekka Centre has some great hawker fare at an affordable price
