Slow housekeeping service

Rhodora C TripAdvisor review

No slippers in the room, when requested it took 2 hours for delivery. Carpet worn out breakfast very slow service but food was good. Great location but service was slow especially housekeeping. Manger was aware of housekeeping issues, I sent an email but just ignored my feedback, no response at all.

I have stayed at the Fairmont in the US and Canada and I have stayed on the gold floor often. I have had great stays at the waterfront and I will say the staff are very attentive and kind. The rooms arem uch larger so staying there is a plus in that regard. The housekeeping team was on top of it but they missed osme surfaces in the room at check in. The gold floor either had bourbon and no sweet vermouth or didnt have it and then had sweet vermouth. I realize Bourbon is becoming scarce but having a well stocked bar cart is a necessity. Spirits require vermouth or options to make a mixed drink (we are paying for it).If something is missing it should be brought up. The gold lounge mid week evening canapes and evening desserts were quite tired but the new years breakfast was better than expected! Fair to say having some consistency would be ideal. Last, the elevators were very slow! I waited 10" on a few occcassions and watched car after car go dowm packed full. An older couple couldnt fit and had to wait even longer than I had to.

Check-in was fast and friendly. Staff seemed friendly and for the most part we enjoyed our stay. Room was large and comfortable. Accor Members welcome drinks options were incredibly generous. Couple of issues came up though... On several occasions there was a very long wait for the lift on our floor (16th). About 10 minutes on one occasion. We actually became concerned that it was never going to stop on our floor. The down button turned itself off on three different occasions after we had already been waiting for several minutes and had to be re-pressed. There was a waiting list for ARC for breakfast, for the oyster happy hour and also just to sit at the bar (at least a 10-15 minute waiting list each time) even though we could see there were plenty of spare tables and seats available. And we found it didn't seem to matter what time of day we arrived, we always had to join a waiting list. I realise it was a busy time of year but it seemed to me to be understaffed, or if not it was a little disorganised, or perhaps making everyone wait unnecessarily was intentional? The oyster happy hour offered us a waiting list before we were seated in a half-empty room, only 1 variety of oysters (apparently the other variety had run out due to a single table ordering 100 of them), a long wait for the oysters to arrive (we only ordered 6 each) and the variety we received were the smallest oysters I have ever seen. Maybe that's the typical size for that variety but having eating many different varieties around the world, those appeared to be under-developed. I was expecting a happy experience when I decided to partake in an Oyster Happy Hour. It wasn't that. I couldn't recommend that experience to anyone. Breakfast quality was well below what we expected. Perhaps it's a Canadian thing but we found the scrambled eggs and bacon to be far-overcooked. Uncuttable bacon that sort of snapped into little pieces when trying to cut it. Couldn't even stab it with a fork. Crispy is one thing but crumbly shards is another. By chance, we discovered we could order an omelette (after we noticed someone else with one). Apparently there was a menu available but we never saw one. The omelettes we received were far too salty, plain otherwise and not very enjoyable. Would have preferred to be able to select ingredients for a chef to prepare, or even to view a menu before we started. Seemed to be more of a focus on pastries but I would have liked a wider range of hot food. Maybe some other egg options? Beans? Eggs Benedict with ham? Maybe we just saw it at an unusually busy time of year but the foyer needs a lot more seating. It was regularly very full with a combination of people arriving, others leaving, many just milling around and many others in the waiting line for ARC. The seating catered for only a small portion of those guests. If you intend on keeping everyone waiting before entering ARC I think you need to consider more seating. I had injured my knee prior to arriving at the hotel and standing in the foyer repeatedly wasn't pleasant.

Walls seemed thin as we could hear other people talking in their normal voice. Also, we found the bed sheets not the best quality. . . thin and the bottom sheet wouldn't stay in place.
