as an ALL Platinum member I was disappointed-surprised to be only able to check-in at 14.57, not much of an early check-in compared to the standard-check in time of 15.00, didn't receive any room upgrade sometimes afforded to ALL Platinum members, received a welcome drink voucher but was surprised that it could not be used or redeemed in the actual hotel but only in another hotel a few hundred metres away, the name of which was not even indicated on the welcome drink voucher, in our room 707 there was a welcome note addressed to "Ongi Etorri", I have no idea who this person is, the room was stuffy, directly faced the sun for most of the day and curtains were drawn back, one narrow window could not be opened (I think they are afraid that people could fall or jump out) and the other wider window only opened inwards at a slant, but if you pulled the curtain that effectively closed the window due to a poor design flaw....., we stayed in April but I would really not like to be in this room in the height of summer, on first morning the shower head fell off the shower hose, I thought the cleaning person might have asked for it to be repaired (or maybe she thought we wanted it broken in this way ?), when we came back in the afternoon it was still lying broken in the shower so I went to reception to report it and a technician came to fix it

I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. Whenever possible, when a guest arrives in the morning or early afternoon, we give him off course and naturally access to his room before the official check-in time. Unfortunately, there are occasions when this is not possible due to late room releases. The receptionnist did not may be mention you that you that you received an upgrade from a classic room to a superior room with a higher floor and better views. Unfortunately, we couldn’t provide a sea view upgrade as those rooms have a double bed and you asked for a twin bed. Each time we offer a welcome drink we propose the choise between a bottle at the Mercure President directly or to spend a nice moment at The Bar of the Mercure Plaza located at 2mn walking distances. When asking the question at reception, we indicate how to join this bar. The sentence “Ongi Etorri” means “Welcome” in Basque. We apologize if this caused any confusion. The hotel was constructed either with fixed windows either with casement windows. For security reasons, we are not allowed to modify that; We understand that this may be moderately appreciated. The Hotel has airconditionning Our housekeeping team is instructed to report any technical incidents promptly. We apologize that this was not the case during your stay, and we will reinforce this instruction. We value your feedback and apologize for any inconvenience you experienced. Biarritz is a jewel, and having a 4-star hotel in the center requires the respect of Biarritz citizens, leadership, and customers. I mean that the Mercure President Hotel has to raise the challenge. The service we received at the reception, as well as in our room, was first class. The area of improvement is the breakfast; our advice would be to hire ASAP a 4 Stars Chief who would rebuild the image France portrays in the world regarding preparing and offering food. Next, and not the most difficult as parking is next to the hotel, is making a deal with the parking company so the hotel can offer parking to its customers. Some hotels of this class offer parking to their customers, but even a reasonable cost to the customers would be acceptable.
