Well, Nice place, Nice staff, nice breakfast, nice pool just don't bring drinks from outside or they will just take it and do not order a coffee in the hotel at 90MAD (8€) - Marrakesh is more expensive that Monaco looks like.... room is average, really. 3700€ a week to have main street in front 🫢 of your room. HYATT REGENCY CARTAGENA (SUITE) LESS EXPENSIVE AND MUCH BETTER. this place is not recommended in my opinion.

Great local food. Nice band and atmosphere. The singer sang our favourite songs as well as Moroccan music too. Well served by all waiters and staff at Orangery especially from Siham. We had the lamb couscous and fish tajine. Both delicious. Nice start to our vacation.

Totally underwhelmed and unimpressed staff and reception staff do not react when you have a complaint, they nod heads and then walk away. Ordered a meal which took an eternity to arrive and when it did it was cold (trio burgers and chips), corridors were dim struggled to see to get to room. Ironed a shirt and rust came out of the iron and stain my shirt this was cleaned by hotel but no apology, I have stayed at far more high end hotels and never experienced such slow service and poor attitudes by staff (rudeness TBH).

Stay 30 nights a year at international locations, most often five star properties (including Leading Hotels of the World) such as Mandarin Oriental, St. Regis, NH Collection, and even Sofitel. Not so you will think the entire stay was bad, let’s start with the positive. A very pretty lobby. Housekeeping staff were always very professional. A comfortable bed and a nice view from the balcony. Now for the not so nice parts of this hotel experience. The stay was booked for the Sofitel Lounge & Spa, which was the more expensive option. We were placed into the Sofitel Palais Imperial, the less expensive option. So from the beginning we paid for a more expensive room that was not provided. Very disappointing start and that is an unsavory business practice. The restaurant and bar experience was very mixed. More than half of the time any wine listed on the menu we were told “sorry, it’s not available.” The most egregious example of poor service was in Le Jardin for breakfast. We paid for daily breakfast. On one day, which admittedly was busy, we were walked around to find a table for breakfast. When one could not be found, the employee simply walked away in the middle of the restaurant and abandoned us. We had to go back to the front desk, report what happened, and get another employee to assist. We did not tip that morning and we always tip (housekeeping, restaurant servers, concierge, and turn down service), because they usually make an effort for the guests. Not so this time. The doormen were always kind, but of very limited help with taxi drivers. We would always solicit the help of an employee to inform the taxi driver of our destination. Most times the doormen didn’t know the locations, so we had to give the taxi driver directions via GPS. We decided then to ask the concierge to write the name of the business and address in the native language of a taxi driver in Marrrakech. That didn’t work either. So we resorted to using our cell phones to communicate with a driver in a language we do not speak. And even more upsetting, they never made an effort to get the actual price of the taxi ride, leaving us as foreigners to negotiate a price (there are no meters on the taxis). If I were asked by other friends who travel internationally, I would dissuade then from staying at the property. It is not a bad hotel, it does have many good employees, but it simply doesn’t provide an experience to justify its expense and a five star rating.

It sounds like there were several instances where the service fell short of expectations, particularly regarding the room reservation, restaurant service, and assistance with transportation. It's understandable how frustrating it must have been to pay for a specific room category and not receive it upon arrival. Additionally, encountering issues with the availability of items listed on the menu, as well as experiencing poor service during breakfast, would certainly detract from the overall enjoyment of your stay. The challenges you faced with the doormen's assistance with taxi drivers also seem to have added unnecessary stress to your experience. It's disappointing that despite your efforts to communicate your needs, the hotel staff weren't able to effectively assist you in this regard. While it's positive to hear that there were some aspects of your stay that you found enjoyable, such as the lobby ambiance and the professionalism of the housekeeping staff, it's clear that there are areas where the hotel could improve to better meet the expectations of its guests.
