Hotel was clean and comfortable. All the staff were pleasant and courteous. Good location. Breakfast was very good buffet. We only had 1 evening meal there but it was very good. Would highly recommend this hotel for anybody going to Sydney for short stay. Would certainly return there when next in Sydney.

Dated and poor service. We booked a room for 3 but we’re only provided a room for two. After seeking assistance 3 times we were finally issued with a trundle bed but no towels or pillows for third person. Staff seemed over run and all calls to reception and house keeping just rang out. Tried to speak with a manager twice to no avail. Room itself was dated and without modern touches like smart tv. Paid near 400 for a very ordinary experience.

This hotel is in a great location and central to Pitt st, Circular Quay, King st What, as well as various train stations and other transport. It’s downside though is that the rooms are still in need of upgrades. My bathroom door was positioned in a way that the shower would splash on it and the bottom hinge was very rusted. The room itself needs a bit more than just a soft refurb as well. The hallway is reminiscent of a scary movie with the colour scheme. The lobby seating area is great for evening drinks and has a great social atmosphere. The worst part of it though is having to call them to obtain an invoice. While I didn’t get this on departure, it’s generally not difficult to do so. In this case it took numerous emails, phone calls to an unmanned number, as well as over 2 weeks to get a copy of the invoice. If you want to go green, you need to ensure that you are automatically sending the invoice out. ASIC requires invoices be sent within 7 days of request. This was well beyond this time.

Possibly the worst hotel experience in my life. We were on the 19th floor and the lifts were not working for a good portion of our stay. We climbed the stairs once but essentially felt trapped after this. No hot water for 1/2 a day - all related to the power outage. They offering to move us at 7pm on the Sunday night - 1/2 an hour before our dinner reservations...so we stayed. Staff were clearly doing their best. This hotel needs a major upgrade. Will not stay at Mercure again

As you can imagine, this is certainly not how we would like to look after our guests. Initially it was suspected it was only a short power outage, however as the afternoon progressed, Ausgrid advised emergency works need to be performed in order to restore power. Of course, we then offered relocation to guests, but in your case it was too late. Ausgrid has since fixed the issues with the power supply, yet this event was completely out of the hotel's control. This was previously a holiday inn hotel and therefore I think they are still in the process of changing to the Mercure. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the location is ideal in the CBD but a distance from the retail and Darling Harbour, however ideally located for the bridge and opera house. It’s a reasonably priced hotel in Sydney.
