The 125 guest rooms are spacious with high ceilings, large windows, and custom furnishings, providing a respite to the stimulating museum spaces below. Design team preserved the foyer's green marble and silver leaf ceiling and terrazzo floors throughout. Good location, extremely outdated building with problems.

The hotel is in a great location in Durham but that might be the only positive thing about it. The building is extremely outdated with a poor HVAC system. The temperature outside was 70 degrees but the coolest our hotel room would get was 75 degrees. I would hate to see how warm it gets in the hot summer months. When we inquired with the front desk about this, they sent a member from their engineering team to our room who knew less about how HVAC systems worked than we do. I would love to see the job description for the engineering team. We talked to several other guests staying at the hotel and everyone was having the same AC issues as us and the front desk told them the same thing. We were told to keep our blinds shut even though we paid extra for a city view. But despite keeping our blinds shut, the temperature in our room never went below 75. Also, the gym was in the basement and it was 80 degrees in there. Seems like the whole building has AC problems. Besides the terrible HVAC issues, our room was not fully stocked. There was nothing in our mini bar fridge and our friend in other rooms had a stocked mini bar. The maids did not restock our coffee bar after the first day and we were completely out of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower. When we asked a maid to refill them, she told us a manager had to come to our room to refill them. The hotel restaurant looked delicious but the hours were not very accommodating. Every-time we tried to go, it was closed. We tried to go at 3pm for a beer and appetizer and it was closed. Also, they do not offer room service. There was not a good gathering space for guests in the hotel either. We stayed here for a wedding party but there was no where for us to gather with other guests staying at the hotel. Overall, I do not recommend staying at this hotel. There are other hotels in the same area for a similar price that look way nicer.

Pleased with service; room needs some attention

The valet car parking staff, servers in the restaurant and meals at breakfast and dinner were all great. The room could have been better. I felt like the temperature never really changed despite adjusting the thermostat int he room. My shower soap was in a “locked” position and waters weren’t replaced for the second day. There never really seemed to be a senior manager at the front desk. My points still haven’t been credited to my Accor account.

Dirty hallways and room floors - Over Priced - Terrible Valet Parking Only - Did not tell about Addition $100 per night incidental charge yet to be refunded a week later. Room was not ready at 3PM afternoon.
