Stay 6-5-2026: AC did NOT work in our room or for another guest checking out at the same time. Bedding was bleached and clean but a little scratchy. The dinning overhead light did not work. In great need of updating. The shampoo bottle that stays in the room had the previous guest hair on it. No ice machine for guests use. I had to call the front desk twice and after an hour we finally got our ice. Front desk staff were very friendly and the valet guy was excellent! Location was great but I would not stay here again.

I traveled to the 21c Museum Hotel Durham for business trip. I was upgraded to a comfortable suite, about which my only complaint is three of the four large windows looked directly out onto the roof and AC units of an adjacent building, which essentially meant keeping them closed during my entire stay. Other than that, the room (and bed) was very comfortable and I was delighted to find slippers tucked into the lux hotel robe. Slippers are common in hotels in Europe and Asia but in my experience, not the U.S. and so this was a plus, as were the chocolate goodies in my room. Yum. I very much enjoyed the staff, who were warm and friendly, Jim, the HVAC tech was a delight, whom I saw several times and the restaurant staff were great! They were short of staff but very intent on taking good care of me and I appreciated it. The food in the restaurant and delivered via room service was first rate. I miss those grits! Last, but not least was the art in the hotel. I LOVED the art and loved the experience of being surrounded by provocative and beautiful art throughout the hotel. It definitely elevated my stay and distinguished it (I travel a lot, particularly internationally, and stay in lots of hotels) from other hotels.
