The room was fine the service was horrible. I realize the protocol of cleaning every three days but i asked the second day THREE times to have my room serviced and they said they it would done and it never happened until my final day. At least if they weren’t going to do it, tell me, don’t just say yes we will get it done and not do it, I wasn’t looking for lip service. I understand the labor shortage and COVID issues I would have been understanding I’m not an unreasonable person. I work for a global ad agency a couple blocks from your hotel, i had encouraged 4 others traveling with me to stay at this hotel because I have stayed at the James in the past. I will not return to this hotel and also let the person who books our travel to remove your hotel from our recommendation list.

I loved the interesting vibe and the way that walking around the hotel was as interesting as many galleries in major cities. The staff truly sets 21c Chicago apart though. I accidentally cut my hand opening a bottle the first night in my room and went down for a band aid. The wonderful women behind the front desk checked on my every day until I left. Their kindness and warmth made your incredible setting feel like home.

Poor service and amenities. Staff inexperienced and unable to solve issues.

We have stayed in the 21C in Oklahoma City and had a wonderful time. We talked up the chain to many friends and were excited to find there was one (well located) in Chicago where we were going for a rare getaway. Upon arrival the key to our room was not available due to a computer glitch. This, was remedied fairly quickly so we didn't think much about it. However, while waiting for our key, we learned that breakfast was not included in our stay. This, despite the fact that the two reservation confirmations I brought with me listed free breakfast as included in our price. We were informed that the hotel restaurant only served dinner and there was no room service. I specifically chose a hotel that included breakfast for the convenience as well as because of the hefty price the Chicago hotels charge. This was a big value we did not receive. The staff thought this was no big deal--just an "I'm sorry and let's move on" attitude. We lost lots of time searching for breakfast restaurants and waiting in long lines because of the visitors that weekend for the marathon. We were also surprised that the total bill was actually charged at the time of reservation and paid by us well in advance. Usually, hotels charge when you show up for your stay. Also, we were not informed that we had to request maid service and so after a long day we returned to an unmade bed and soggy towels from the poorly installed walk-in shower. Lastly, the front desk could not even get us a cab to the airport. This in spite of stopping by the desk the night before the departure to make arrangements. We were assured a cab would be available but that day were told to walk to Michigan Avenue where cabs were more plentiful. We ended up sharing a cab with another guest who had been awaiting assistance longer than we. So, all in all although we have many good memories of our weekend, none were due to 21C. It was a disappointment and a frustration from the start.

Unique hotel in a Great Location

This hotel was in an excellent location in downtown Chicago and an easy walk or ride to anything we needed. The art is unique and thought-provoking. I attended with a group for a business function and we utilized the meeting spaces and galleries. The staff was kind and helpful, and the food was excellent!

The rooms were great, employees were friendly and attentive, everything was clean and the location was wonderful. I was here for a work meeting and have to say the food was great and conference space was perfect for our group. I would 100% recommend this hotel. Just keep an open mind with the artwork! It was great, just provocative.

Very nice hotel. Our group was very satisfied. The event planner, banquet manager along with the other staff members were a delight to work with during our meetings. We will definitely keep 21C in mind with other future visits to Chicago.

Great location, great service, great art!

Came for the marathon and was pleasantly surprised that the staff were able to deliver both a fridge and a microwave to my room so I could prepare an early morning, pre-race breakfast. Thank you so much!

Thank you 21c Museum Hotel for such a wonderful stay! The art in the lobby was so fantastic that I am still telling my friends that weren't able to go about it and that they have to check out the hotel the next time that they make it Chi-Town! Also thank you the Global Sales and on property sales for making my birthday weekend so very special! I made sure to buy my green penguin and he is now a permanent resident in my home so I can always look back and remember this truly fantastic weekend! Thank you 21c Chicago and I'll see you next time I am in Chicago!

I had a lot of trouble with the hotel finding my reservation. I booked my rez through Tablet hotels. when I added a night, the person couldn't find my reservation, but was able to add a night, but in then I was told I lost my reservation for the last night i had reserved. So i talked to the reservation desk and they couldnt find my reservation again, so then i had to wait on line and talk to 3+ people to resolve the problem. it was a hassle in the middle of my trip and took out more than hour to resolve by the time i got someone on the phone (getting the front desk on the phone was a big problem as well) and then had to wait on a LONG line on a saturday afternoon to talk to someone in person. The line to check into the hotel was very long. there must be a better way to greet your guests then to have them wait on a 9+ person line for a small front desk with three frazzled receptionists (who were all very nice). OY.

We have stayed at multiple 21C locations over the years (Louisville, Lexington, Durham, and Cincinnati). The staff in Chicago was aloof, always seemingly busy with desk work and efficient but not friendly. We asked for ice at desk and were told it would be delivered. 30 minutes later we called for ice. Ice never arrived. Room was comfortable and clean, albeit small. Location is great, but not sure we will stay there again as we much prefer the Peninsula’s quality of service.

Great location, easy to check in, courteous staff

Everything was nice in the room..very clean and well appointed. The only issue I had was an electronic blackout shade that didn't work. We had to sleep with the lights of the street posts coming through, though it wasn't too bad.

I can to Chicago a lot for business and usually stay at the hotels in your area. This time, it was for pleasure and to celebrate my wife’s birthday. I booked the king luxury sweet as the floor plans show that it had a standing shower and a tub (which we needed to shower our 3 month old). But the room did not have it and when I asked the front desk they said (the floor plans are wrong). The rooms were very nice and spacious. But we sadly didn’t get a view and usually a guest can choose that when reserving but when I didn’t see that, I assumed luxury rooms all get a view since it is more expensive. Sadly it wasn’t The decor of the hotel was very unique, something I have never been experienced before. I was happy overall, but was hoping that there was someone to help us with our luggage… like most hotels. They told me that the bell boy is busy at the moment and sorry but there are carts in the back… but later I realized there never was a bell boy. In the end, I feel like honesty is important. In order to attract high end customers, the word “luxury” has to be used when excellent service is being given. It wasn’t very nice when I waited in line to check in while my family was in the car… then was offered an upgrade for an extra charge and I accepted, but then they realized the upgrade room wasn’t available and then I stood there for 15 more minutes or so because they had to fix my reservations again and give me the room I originally booked. All in all, it was an experience. Sadly not something I would brag about to my friends, or recommend to people or clients for staying. But not bad that I would leave a bad review online. Thank you for asking for my experience

Check in and out was super easy! The museum that’s on the first and second floor was absolutely amazing to walk around and experience.

Hidden fees!

The actual hotel experience was fine, but I will never stay with you again while you charge "urban experience fees." Before every booking now, I will ask, and if the hotel charges one, I will go elsewhere. Don't lie about your rates.

Hotel was very clean, quiet, and unique. I loved the layout of the room and it was very pretty. Location was great and right in the heart of all the fun. I have a few things though I feel the hotel could have done differently. There wasn’t the ability to order a movie and only had the basic cable channels. I always thought that was a given in hotels and I’ve never ran into that. It was rainy one night and I wanted to watch a movie but wasn’t able to. Secondly, the lights in the room automatically came on when there was motion and it startled me every time I needed to use the bathroom at night. I had asked the desk downstairs to send someone up to assist us but didn’t hear back on that. Lastly there wasn’t a mini fridge. Again something I just took for granted that all hotels provide this but our room didn’t have one. Wasn’t able to take leftovers back to the room from any of the restaurants so that was kind of a bummer. The people at the front desk were very nice. Overall I enjoyed the trip. Got a great deal on it and it was a clean place to lay my head at night so I was decently happy.

Good location, the rooms are ok. Very noisy from the windows, no restaurant and the heating was not working, the smell coming out of the heating was really bad. We asked to change rooms and stayed in a cold room.

Courteous, But Overworked Staff

All staff were friendly and went well above and beyond to ensure our stay was a great experience. They are, however, woefully understaffed - no doubt due to current COVID situation. We didn't like the refrigerator being pre-filled with high-priced items we weren't going to use. Would rather have a conventional mini-fridge for drinks and leftovers.

Hotel staff did not enforce COVID-19 mandates. Most guests I saw walked around the hotel without masks, some even while speaking to hotel staff. Very disappointing.

Really nice 5 night stay (my second at this hotel): Quiet hotel, comfortable room, great shower. Nespresso machine is a nice touch. I love the galleries (although I was a little bummed that the main gallery was occupied by a large meeting when I was there). Perfect location in River North / Mag Mile.
