10 night stay in connected rooms with swim-up pool.

Our family of 4 have just come back from a 10 night stay in the Rixos Saadiyat. The hotel is stunning upon first sight, with its architecture and is so clean everywhere. We ate in the Turquoise restaurant every day for breakfast and usually alternated between it and the one beside the pool at lunchtimes. Food in both are excellent with so much choice. On three evenings we took advantage of the 5 course meals in the a la carte restaurants (Asian, Italian and Seafood). All three were superb offering exquisitely presented food and different cocktails not offered by the bar in reception. The said bar was lovely in the evenings serving all branded drinks with nibbles. Branded drinks are served throughout the hotel, with minibars in rooms restocked everyday with fizzy drinks, fruit juices, beer, water, crisps and chocolate bars. During our first week we met Abdul (Aladdin) and Mina - the photographers who work at the hotel but not employed by the hotel. They took some lovely photos of our daughter that evening on the beach and offered us a family shoot the next day. We were sceptical at first but because there was no charge we said yes. The next night we meet them for about 2 hours and they took a wide range of individual and family shots. We went to dinner and afterwards met them again to review their pictures. They let us sit by a PC and deleted the ones we didn't want - reducing them down to a final 50 from 160+ - with no pressure from them. It is around 40 Dirhams for one photo but deals are done if you want more. We paid our money (cash needed) and they were WhatsApp'd to us all. Abdul said he would email the full file images when we arrived back to the UK. We arrived back on Saturday and the photos were e-mailed Monday. Excellent service from these 2 men. Elsewhere the staff are very courteous, efficient and nothing is too much trouble. Days were mostly spent at the main pool (the swim up pools by the rooms are not connected to it) watching the waiters on rollerskates whizz around with drinks which you can order by pressing the service button on your table between the pair of loungers. They also can bring tubs of fresh fruit and ice lollies. There is also a man bringing ice cold face wipes and iced cucumber slices for your eyes - which in the heat is much appreciated. The beach is a small walk along a boardwalk, but the sea is warm whereas the pool is refreshing. The one criticism we have is there is nothing for teenagers to do. The wave pool isn't serviced so no one sits there, so our 2 went for a try and came back. They even went to the gym a couple of times which they have never done on holiday before. In the evening it would be nice if there was an area with a pool table, or jukebox or board games where teenagers could meet and socialise. With regard to entertainment, it is limited in the evenings - a harpist in the lobby or a lady singing (very loose interpretation here) in the adult bar on the 6th floor. A taxi is outside most days and are very cheap. Be aware that you need a negative PCR test to be able to go anywhere indoors in Abu Dhabi which is offered daily by a nurse who visits the hotel for a price of 120 Dirhams or for the faster service 200 Dirhams. They do not recognise lateral flow tests.

Home away from home it’s luxury hotel from lobby you can feel how it’s nice place Recption team had great work in check in special thanks to mr Mahmoud who assist me a lot in many things appreciate so much pool and room so nice clean and big food so testy and the most important service.

Expect to eat only buffet food if your stay is less than 3 nights!

My biggest disappointment with Rixos was that if you book less than 3 nights the Al le cartes are not included in your stay. This means you are eating at the same buffet restaurant 3 times a day, unless you eat at the ‘snack’ restaurant. We were not told this on booking and would not have booked if we knew this was the case. They make it very clear in their welcome letter sent after you have paid, as I booked on non refundable terms I was stuck! The buffet for lunch and dinner on both days we were there were very very similar which made the experience disappointing. Food is always a big part of the experience for me and the above definitely tainted my experience. The resort itself was very nice, the staff are attentive and the room (we had a family suite) was nice. I probably wouldn’t return to the Rixos due to the above. My biggest disappointment is that this was not made clear when booking, it is not clear on your website nor was I told when I rang to make the booking, I spoke to 2 different people on different days and this was not made clear. It’s not all inclusive of half of your restaurants are not included. We love Saadiyat island and in future will likely return to Jumeirah Saadiyat with more transparent pricing.

Absolutely Beautiful Hotel, Had a Great Time but Left DIsappointed.

First of all, Rixos Saadiyat is without a doubt an absolutely amazing hotel in terms of cleanliness, food quality was exceptional in Turquoise Restaurant, facilities, architecture and interior design. Throughout our stay, we thoroughly enjoyed our time and it was our favourite hotel in Abu Dhabi by miles, and still remains so for us. However, I am disappointed to write this review to express my utter dissatisfaction with the Hotel Booking Team and (seemingly) managers at the Reception Desk in the Lobby, notably Mr Mahmoud and his colleague, who I have forgotten his name. I encountered issues with Mr Mahmoud on the day prior to my check in, and on the day of checking out. When I visited the hotel a day before checking in to place my booking and tour around the different rooms available, Mr Ahmed selected a few rooms for one of the workers to show us around (who was so kind and welcoming) in order to get an idea of which room we would like to book (sea view, garden view, connected rooms, single rooms etc.). After deciding to go for the connected sea view rooms, I paid 3000 dirhams deposit at the reception with Mr Ahmed for the connected sea view rooms and he then passed us onto Mr Mahmoud to finalize and confirm our booking. Mr Mahmoud then offered to show us another room which he thought might be more suitable for us and more spacious for us, as a family of five, and we were open to seeing the room in order to have the best idea of what we could choose. On the way to the room, Mr Mahmoud told us that the rooms he was about to show us had an additional bedroom (3 rooms compared to the 2 we had selected at the reception desk) and after asking Mr Mahmoud if the rate will still be the same, he told us not to worry and that there will be no difference in the price of this room. Thus, we went along to see the rooms After having seen the rooms, we decided that we would go for the 3 rooms instead of the 2 and when we arrived back at the reception and Mr Mahmoud was confirming the booking for us, he informed us that it would be a total of approximately 15,000 dirhams to be paid, in comparison to the 6,925 dirhams I was going to pay for the connected rooms w/ sea view. We were completely astounded by this figure and the lack of honesty by Mr Mahmoud who told us several times that the rate would not change from the other rooms and when we confronted him about this, he was offended and argued that he never promised us anything. What really upset us, as loyal regular Rixos customers, was the complete lack of professionalism from Mr Mahmoud - we would not have minded if the difference in rate was a few hundred dirham but to take us after paying a deposit for a booking which cost 6,925 dirhams and then showing us a room for 15,000 dirhams after repeatedly saying that the cost would not vary was absolutely shocking to us and started our stay at Rixos Saadiyat on a sour note. It felt like Mr Mahmoud was trying to con us with some business strategies rather than offer us the best rate possible. We were not upset that the room itself was 15,000 dirhams but rather Mr Mahmoud's dishonesty and lack of professionalism. As an employee working in the Reception and aiding the room bookings process, it seems completely wrong to waste the time of customers who have booked two rooms within a budget of 7,000 dirhams and show them a room that costs 15,000 dirhams. We were so tired by the end of the touring because of how long it took and in the end to be played by Mr Mahmoud. Upon check-in the next day, Mr Mahmoud was welcoming and warm, and I appreciated his different attitude towards us this time round. I let him know that I would like to extend my stay for another 3-4 nights in advance, and he let me know that he could do it on the last day for me and it doesn't matter and that I should not worry at all about the rates, even telling me that I don't need to use my Fazaa Card that I used for my original booking to extend my stay because he will give me a better price and deal and will look after us during our stay. The following day, I told Mr Mahmoud again that I would like to extend our stay for 3 nights and he told me the same thing - to not worry about it and he will do it for us on the last day with the same price and the same room, that it won't be an issue at all for us and that we should relax and enjoy our stay stress-free for now. I trusted Mr Mahmoud's words and, the night before checking out, I call the reception to extend my booking for another 3 nights, asking if Mr Mahmoud was available. I was told that Mr Mahmoud was not working that day and so the other male receptionist on the phone offered to help me with my query. I asked the man at the reception (through the room telephone) if it was possible to extend our stay in the same rooms that we are currently in for another 3 nights and he told me immediately that our family are due to check out this evening, when we were in fact checking out the next day (according to our original booking). He then realized he was wrong and apologized. Then, he went on to tell me that the room that we are currently in is unavailable for us to extend our stay in because it has been booked by another family who are checking in the same day that we are checking out, offering to check the rate for other rooms available. After a few moments, he quotes me approximately 18,000 dirhams for 3 nights in two separate, non-connected rooms, telling me that this is all that is available and that is the fixed rate now. I was completely shocked by this - I had booked at high-peak (across Friday through to the weekend) and I am asking to extend my stay during off-peak Monday-Thursday and it would cost me 2,5 times as much as I paid 3 nights ago. Bare in mind that it is 18,000 dirhams includes the Fazaa card discount! I was shocked and asked if there were any other rooms available and the man told me that there were no rooms available - that is all that is left. A few seconds later, he tells me that the rooms that we are CURRENTLY IN are suddenly available for us at a rate of 4,800 dirhams PER NIGHT (4x what we originally paid) and that we could keep our current rooms if we paid that price. I was so confused by this and went down to the reception to discuss this face-to-face with the man in the lobby responsible for my query. He let me know that he is accommodating this offer especially for us and will move the guests who have reserved the rooms elsewhere if we pay 4,800 dirhams per night. I was completely confused by the hotel's policy here - a room suddenly can be stripped away from other people who have reserved the rooms if I pay more than they did?! I have never come across a hotel policy like this and was really disappointed with our conversation that was going nowhere and so decided to leave Rixos on the original check-out date. This complete lack of professionalism within the Reservations / Reception Team was really disappointing, particularly with Mr Mahmoud who I entrusted with our stay and presented himself as appearing to look after us. With regards to the other Staff at the Hotel, I cannot fault them AT ALL. By far the best service I have ever come across in any hotel globally. The daily room cleaners are so polite, kind and accommodating to our requests and always have the largest smile on their faces. A special note of thanks to Tej in the lobby who took our luggage to our rooms and also helped us check out - he was absolutely brilliant and offered us 5 bottles of cold water in our taxi on our way out. Furthermore, Kim, our server in Aja was so kind and charming, making us feel so welcome and checking up on us during the course of our meal at Aja. I cannot fault these workers at Rixos who work so hard to provide the best experience for us as guests - they really were the highlight of our stay and we were so appreciative and thankful to have been served by them during our stay. I must also say that the security man dressed in a blue (police?) outfit who stands in the lobby handing out masks was incredibly kind and welcoming, always with a smile on his face and made me smile everytime I saw him. So, I truly thank them for their kind-heartedness and warmness towards us. It is a real shame regarding our experience with the Management side of Rixos, which is deterring us from booking through the hotel again, however I cannot fault the Waiters, Cleaners and Lobby Assistants around Rixos who were impeccable!
