The hotel is located directly across the street from Copacabana (there are no hotels actually on the beach in Copa), it is towards the center of Copa where the beach is wide and no sea weed. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, supermarkets, and smaller Acai/dessert establishments in walking distance, and everything is within Uber distance. The hotel is nice, there is always someone at the front desk, except maybe real early in the morning (there was always an English speaking rep when I needed assistance). Staff were very helpful as I had several (non hotel related) requests that were accommodated quickly and with professionalism. The rooms are clean, housekeeping came every day, the bed/pillows were comfortable. My room had a small balcony and view of ocean, which was nice to walk out on for a weather check. The room itself is a little small, the lighting in the room leaves a little to be desired, it seemed to be all wall lighting but no overhead lights. As room is small, bathroom sink/shower small as well, but I wasn't in Rio to hang in my hotel room so minor issue for me, water pressure/temperature worked well. Room had it's own remote controlled interior AC unit which worked great, and was quiet. Not sure if this is a Brazil thing or hotel thing but you have to use your room keycard every time in order to select floor and engage elevator (I always found myself digging keycard out of pocket), elevators are also on small side. There is a safe in room to keep valuables locked, ironing board /iron upon request (accommodated immediately when I asked), I arrived midweek a little over an hour early and was provided early check-in, which was appreciated. It looks they have a shower/changing room by lobby if you arrive real early and they have to check your bags, at least you can go to beach. For me - I found the establishment fine and a good value, you can walk the beach to Ipanema about a half hour, you can also walk opposite towards Sugarloaf about 20 min (not to the mountain, but towards general area). Hotel is located right next to JW Marriott, so you can compare and contrast, when I booked the price was considerable, granted there is no rooftop pool, but not really a pool person. I believe the hotel provides some kind of beach towel/umbrella service, I never attempted to try it as for me it was just more convenient to rent chair and umbrella daily from one of the beach kiosks.

Fantastic location and great staff. Literally opposite of the street is Copa Cabana Beach. Loved the breakfast and service. Everyone tried to help us and make our stay comfortable. Especially Eduarda was very lovely and helpful. Now I know where to stay if I come back to Rio again.

Good: 1. The food in the in-house Peruvian restaurant is amazing 2. “Some” of the staff members are very courteous and friendly 3. Location is great Bad: 1. They don’t care about your Accor status. You will be treated like any other guest. It doesn’t matter whether you’re gold or platinum. I asked for early check-in but wasn’t possible. I understand that but when I went to check-in at 2:50 PM then I was told that the check in is at 3 PM and I need to come back in 10 mins. If still understand but the tone was like “why are you here? Go away”. Same story for late check-out. I told them in advance but was told that it can only be done on day of checkout and on that day they just said sorry we have everything booked. Anyways, maybe I was in peak season but it was handled very badly. I didn’t feel like that they even tried to accommodate me. The issue was interaction not the final outcome. 2. Water kept dripping from the sink everyday and even after multiple discussions it was never resolved. Everyday I had to use multiple towels to cover the bathroom floor 3. The coffee machine in the restaurant stopped working during breakfast. When I asked them about it they said it is out of water and they can’t refill it for that day. It was at 9 am and the breakfast is till 10 am. Overall, I would say it is a like a 3-star hotel. There is nothing to rave about.
