Wonderful time in Rixos Seagate! We felt like we were living in luxury every day. The environment was spotless and the staff were fantastic. Ahmed on reception was especially helpful and attentive. The reefs surrounding the hotel were also amazing.

We were here for five nights, overall had a great experience and definitely some improvement from the last time we were here Of all the restaurants we ate at in Rixos we loved Peoples as it catered for all, our two young ones and us The food was expectational - all the three courses and the service was amazing too Food came out quickly too which was a win with the little ones

If it wasn't for the food poisoning I would recommend this hotel.

My husband and I booked four nights here for some winter sun. PRO'S The room was very spacious and well equipped. The bed sheets were clean, the mattress was not very clean (I always check for bed bugs and it was not pleasant). The exterior grounds were exceptionally clean and well maintained. Most of the staff were friendly and appropriate (ladies you know what I am referring to). The hotel grounds are very large and you have access to the rixos sister hotels if you want. CON'S My husband had a severe case of DIARRHOEA and VOMITING 48 hours into our stay. We had not left the hotel grounds or consumed anything from outside of the hotel. He ate different items than me at lunch time and fell ill by teatime. It was so servere he could not drink water and keep it down. He was feeling extremely thirty but couldn't absorb any fluids. 8 hours into this at about 4 am we had to call the on site doctor who administered intravenous fluids and electrolytes along with a cocktail of medication to address the fever, vomiting, and watery diarrhoea. If we had not obtained treatment my husband would likely have needed hospital admission. Another CON. The evening guest relations staff I walked over to see during this episode were very shadey about the situation telling me food poisoning is a very "strong word" and realing off a list of other explanations. They went off for a conflab about me mid conversation and then came back to me with an attempt at intimidation saying they could arrange a meeting with the head chef and health and safety officer. They informed me that there was no way whatsoever the food in the hotel could have made my husband so unwell it could have been he ate different foods that did not mix. I mentioned that in many of the outdoors food preparation and serving areas there are pidgeons walking on the plate stacks and worktops. There is also often bird faeces on the tables and place mats. I suggested this issue could easily lead to the spread of disease to hotel guests. We were careful to take away the top plate in the stack and use the one underneath for this issue but obviously my husband still became very sick. The Doctors treatment was two hundred and fifty USD. The service from the doctor was very fast and it was clear he had a lot less red tape than we do in the NHS as he just produced medication from his bag and injected it into the bag of fluids. It is also clear that there is a lower hygiene standard from Egyptian Doctors ie no sterile gloves used to cannulate or when attaching the giving set. Throwing the used sharps and equipment back into his bag with clean equipment. He also provided a report with inaccurate physical observations suggesting he may have forgotten what they were and then just made them up. When I complained to guest relations about this they advised I must be misunderstanding. As an NHS registered nurse I found this quite frustrating. I proved this not to be the case after contacting the doctor who apologised and re-wrote the report with the correct observations that I reminded him of. Other than this rather horrendous experience the only other complaint I would have is a member of the lagoon pool bar coming up to my husband and asking for a review. This is fine but physically taking my husbands phone when he started and beginning to write himself a five star review then continuing to stand over him while he finished it and telling him he had to check it before my husband submitted was NOT OK. He even insisted on taking a photo of the review for himself. My husband was still feeling very weak and we were just sat waiting for our transfer time.
