So Sad and disappointed for the price

2 night business trip to a hotel that I've stayed in about 5 times over the past 10 years. Great location downtown central Auckland. As usual the access is difficult with limited drop locations, decided to park in a public parking building 5 minute walk away. Also, don't take an Uber to or from this hotel, as the Taxi drivers have a monopoly on the front door access. Notified hotel that I was arriving early, infact about 3pm, Room wasn't ready until 5pm - lobby was full of other guests also waiting. Would have appreciated notification of a possible waiting. Yes and I do understand the current staffing problems. Room was in the requested location, except on the 8th Floor - no problem if you want to walk up from the 7th floor, as the lift only goes to the 7th. This should be noted on their booking forms. Unfortunately the room cleanliness was not up to standard, very disappointing. Also note that there is limited time-frame for food room service. Fortunately, there are so many other great hotels in Auckland.

Good for solo travelers or couples. Stayed here for couple of nights for solo trip from Hamilton. Was welcomed by friendly reception staff and a cup of fragrant tea. Restaurant staff are friendly and of course, food are great too. Overall experience was 10/10 for me.

Lovely stay, despite a bit of wait in room it was clearly communicated and understandable. Staffs were friendly and genuine, reception staff was awesome in dealing with the circumstances, my request was promptly dealt with, great ambiance and atmosphere. Loved the welcome tea! Restaurant staff was also attentive, my stay was great. I would come back again.

My sister and I stayed at the Fable this past weekend in order to attend a concert at Spark Arena. We are both from out of town and were looking forward to staying in what was advertised as a 5 star hotel…however our stay was absolutely disappointing from beginning to end. Our first issue was actually getting to the hotel, which is easier than it sounds. The hotel is located very centrally on Queen Street, which is great for accessibility on foot, but not if you have a car. We ended up having to self park in their designated car park and walk ten minutes to get to the hotel, only to find that our room was not ready, even though we had been told our check in time was 2pm. We luckily had friends who had already checked in so we were able to leave our bags in their room while we waited, but still hadn’t heard anything from the front desk by 5pm. When we called to follow up they said yes, our room was ready…so where was the communication?? Absolutely shocking. Once we were finally in our room we decided to meet our friends in the bar downstairs for a pre-concert cocktail, only to be spoken rather rudely to by the person on the bar, and then told by another staff member that there would be a 25 minute wait for drinks, as they were “very busy”. There were only a small handful of people there including us, so we found this rather ridiculous. Neither of us slept well that night as there is a ton of noise pollution from the bars outside, and the noise continues until 4am. The other thing I found very frustrating is that they charge you $35 to get your car out of the car park, yet on the Wilson signage it states that it is $15-20 max for the weekend. On the whole, I would not recommend staying here. There are so many other hotels nearby at similar price points where you will be looked after a lot better.

This place has a bad omen.

This has got to be the worst stay we have ever been. No one knows how to drive a manual so we had to park our own car, then they blamed me for our booking being the wrong date even though I booked specifically over the phone for September but didn’t triple check the email they sent to make sure they booked it correctly even though it was repeated back to me as September on the phone and they wrote November, so they made us wait 6 hours for a room that was not amazing. They put meat on our vegetarian breakfast two times after sending it back. Told us cocktails was a 25 minute wait when there was 6 people in the bar and they all had drinks, our friends room wasn’t ready until 3 hours after check in time. Also our friends had to park in a Wilson’s car park instead of valet because there weren’t enough parks, then sent them to the wrong Wilson’s parking space. Then upon check out the concierge made us feel like a complete inconvenience because HE DIDNT KNOW how to drive my (brand new 2022) manual car and got pretty stroppy with us. All over a terrible and actually traumatic experience for someone who isn’t from Auckland or even the city and has been looking forward to staying at this hotel for 5 months.
