Lovely stay as a couple

Visited at the weekend to celebrate my husband's birthday. It had been a few years since we last visited and we had a great time. The room was spacious, clean and the bathroom amazing! HUGE shower and lovely bath. We used the spa facilities which were lovely, nice touch having heated towels to use after the pool. Breakfast was delicious and I liked having the a la carte options to choose from too. We had some drinks in the bar and the service was quick and staff were all friendly.

Beautiful hotel, spacious clean rooms, fantastic power showers, super tasty breakfast, lovely pool area and great gym facilities. The bar is a cosy and inviting area to sit for drinks and food. The staff are all on the ball and amazing! Thank you

Disappointing dining experience

We recently joined the Sunday Roast Club at the Fairmont, as a family we were very excited, however we were very underwhelmed at the experience and the service. There was a guitar soloist performing which was nice at first but very loud and not background music, making it difficult to have a conversation. Along with several other tables asked for the volume to be lowered. The server was attentive, but we had to ask repeatedly for drinks top ups and we asked three times for the bill at the end before it was brought. We also asked for coffees to be told they didn’t do coffees at that restaurant and we’d be welcome to have a coffee in a different part of the hotel, only to see other diners with coffee which was disappointing. When challenged the server went to check again and coffee was indeed on offer. The scallops were delicious, however should be done to order at the table rather than having to queue c20mins for them. The selection of fish was amazing and a real highlight. The roast dinner was the most disappointing element. I had the road beef which was overcooked, roast potato’s were undercooked and not crispy and the Yorkshire pudding was like a brick. The carrot and parsnip were done well. The puddings were underwhelming and the cheese selection needed more attention to keep it looking fresh. Overall a disappointing experience.

We have just returned from a two night family break. Everything was excellent from start to finish: service, food, staff, facilities, pool and spa. Our 4 year old loved it and staff were very good with her. Big thanks to Reuben and the valets and the waiting staff. Thank you. We can’t wait to return.

Great hotel, better attention needed on certain aspects

Stayed at Fairmont recently. Staff are great. Very warm welcome from The Concierge team, who valeted our car. Checked in by Edward who even phoned us a taxi to a wedding we were attending that evening. A very helpful and polite chap he was! Had afternoon tea downstairs. Once again, the staff were very polite and welcoming, however the service was very slow. We had been seated for around 15 minutes before anybody came to take our tea order, and it was almost 10 minutes before we had our tea bought to us. During tea, there was a bunch of screaming kids running about, which does not make the most relaxing atmosphere. This I understand is out of the staff’s control. Fortunately the Afternoon Tea they served was wonderful. Bedroom and bathroom were excellent. Comfy bed, excellent shower and bath. Breakfast was busy, understandable for a Sunday morning, so there was a que. we got through the line pretty fast, but when we were seated and had a tea and coffee order taken, it was 10 minutes before we received our order, all the while other people who had been seated after us had received their orders. It felt as though we had been forgotten about. The breakfast however has great options and is delicious. Ultimately this is a wonderful hotel which I would recommend. However the hotel can improve on certain levels of their F&B attentiveness and speed of service
