No Guest Wifi - Reception failed to tell us that the WiFi was down on arrival. Only after trying for 20 minutes or so did I go down and ask them were I was told that there was an issue since that morning. Looking at other reviews here, this wasn't the case, and this has been going on longer. I also find it disturbing that there was another open guest wifi showing where you had to pay for wifi. I can only imagine a few guests have gone down this route. As someone who works in IT I'm shocked there was no rudancy for this as a service that guests require. Phones Down - Phones were down during stay, most likely due to Wifi/Internet issues. Breakfast - Sausages rubbery and a film on the fried eggs that you would nearly choke on it was that hard. Room Service - States it's till 9.30pm on the menu. I went down at 9pm and was told it was only till 9 pm. Only because it was a cheeseboard did they facilitate me.

The reception must be on strike

Really really bad customer service. I have tried now for the best part of a week and a half to get an invoice for my stay. After over 100 calls and 10 emails still nobody has responded or even answered. I have tried to call at multiple times during the day to hit low traffic times at reception but still nothing. Raised a complaint with All Accor and even they can’t get someone to answer them.

Warning.. Do not book this hotel for business!!!

Spent 4 nights here for business and the experience was absolutely awful. There was no WiFi and when I complained about this (every day) I was told it would be fixed that day (it never was…) I couldn’t even connect to my phone hotspot and had to cancel many meetings as I needed privacy and connection and there is nowhere else in the area that offer private room/WiFi unless you book way in advance. This had an extremely detrimental impact for many people who need my support. They did not offer any compensation for this failure to provide a very basic service despite my requesting it at reception. My booking agency (Expedia) have also said they have been unable to contact them to arrange compensation. Other issues included breakfast not being available until 7.30am (I was at work for 8, so there was not enough time to eat) room cleanliness was poor, there was a hair my bed (not mine!) and it was not hoovered once during my stay. The shower was more of a dribble, the sliding bathroom door is a dangerous fire hazard and I also found staff to be dismissive. Nobody took my complaint seriously when I did speak to them and the reception is always busy with people making complaints! I will never use this hotel chain again.

Great service from reception - well situated for the conference centre and other amenities

very well situated for Edinburgh conference centre where I was attending a conference on Sunday/Monday. Advised the best way from the airport was tram to Haymarket and only a few minutes' walk to the hotel. Well, that is true but was unaware how steep the hill/road was from the tram so arrived to check in my bag on Sunday afternoon very breathless and in need of a drink of water. The reception staff couldn't have been more hotel, arranging the check in, a drink of water and explaining where the centre was - just a quick cut through the Gardner's crescent gardens rather than the long way around that the google map app had me walk! Hotel room well appointed and on arrival back that night with no teabags in the room apart from herbal/fruit ones, reception again very helpful in providing me with some. Disappointed not to have porridge on the breakfast menu but plenty of choice otherwise and well cooked/presented options. On checkout, once again the reception/concierge staff were really helpful, having stored my bag until I'd finished at the conference and organising me a taxi. Very professional, friendly and welcoming - a credit to the hotel. Am due at a conference next year at the same centre so will hope this hotel is used by the organisers as it's certainly a good option.

Poor internet connectivity for business travellers

I stayed here for a work visit and needed to continue working in the evenings. Internet connectivity is very poor. Reported this each day but no improvement. Unfortunately the internet is not good enough for business travellers. The room is also very cold and the aircon, although I set it to a warm temperature, made no difference. Hotel is clean and the bed is comfortable.
