This is the worst hotel. I am shocked it has any good reviews. I imagine the Swissotel hotel line is better in other countries, like Switzerland. The Amsterdam location was very dirty. We had red splattered on the sheets. I hope it was just wine. The bathroom also had dirty marks on the floor. The rooms are very small but that would be okay if the room was otherwise tolerable. The only positive is that the location is excellent and the staff seemed nice enough. I would NEVER stay here again. There were so many better options but the positive reviews misled me. I also paid 386 Euros for one night, which would have been fine if it were halfway decent. It was all outrageous and an important lesson learned.

This hotel was our base for 3 nights and was very well located for trams and walking around the city. Our room was fine - perfectly clean and comfortable and overlooking the square. Dam Square was spotless first thing each morning and sadly rather less so as the day progressed. The hotel is quite small and the facilities are somewhat limited - a small and busy buffet breakfast area and a small restaurant open in the evening, but for visitors who were spending most of the day/evening out and about this is probably all that is need. All staff were extremely helpful and engaging. Tips - there are lots of travel options right outside the door so get the Amsterdam card, but beware on the trams - the code on your smart phone isnt always picked up on the scanner and can create some issues when trying to tap in and out when boarding and alighting. A canal trip is included and is worth doing to get a quick overview of what's where for later visiting.

I big disappointment

We chose the Swissotel for its good location and the website pictures. Reality however, was quite different. This is not a luxury hotel, not even a 4* hotel. At over $350/night, it is terribly overpriced and not a good value for money. The lobby was uninviting (plastic flowers, black walls, poor light, etc.). Our ‘premium’ room was dark and felt damp. The window was closely surrounded by 3 walls of a dingy, musty courtyard, which meant virtually no daylight in the room. It felt depressing, despite the lovely sunny weather outside. The furniture was almost nonexistent. The one armchair in the room was threadbare, there was no luggage rack, and not much space on the little desk to unpack the electronics, maps, etc. The bathroom was not the sleek modern space as depicted in the pictures either and seemed to be held together by a lot of caulking. It was a very expensive disappointment.

We have travelled on city beaks all over Europe and this hotel was by far the best we have stayed in. Apart from the room and the whole hotel being spotlessly clean, the room was large and very comfortable. The service from all staff was perfect. Thoughtful and respectful. The breakfast was also top quality. The hotel is perfectly placed in Dam Square, 5 mins walk from central station and next to a tram stop, making access to the city sites very easy. We will definitely be going back to Amsterdam and staying at this hotel.

Hotel mto bem localizado porém pelo valor pago tinhamos a expectativa de um quarto melhor, principalmente pelo fato de estarmos vindo de uma estadia maravilhosa no hotel Le Louise da mesma rede e que custou metade do preço e tb era muito bem localizado.
