The hotel is beautiful of course. Colin, Austin and Lauren were wonderful at check-in. Austin was even kind enough to comp our parking as my friend is an amputee. So friendly and welcoming. JAMES at the iron skillet was very warm and made us feel at home. He always checked on us consistently and took such great care of us and made us feel very special. The highlight of the trip was Toro. And the highlight of Toro with Sarah. Who I believe is the assistant manager. She was incredibly warm, welcoming, and made us feel like we were the most special people there at the restaurant. We cannot say enough about her. She made the experience absolutely epic. I wish I remembered her last name. I think it was Some kind of Japanese last name. And she had the most wonderful smile. I just want her recognize. She just went so far above and beyond to make us feel so so special. Cuba was our server and he was wonderful. Brent was also great. He has such a great sense of humor. You guys are doing something right at that restaurant. It was amazing. The food was amazing the dessert the little drink before our meal. Ev such an amazing staff there

Dear Trail59638873256, Thank you for your glowing review! We are thrilled to hear that our team made your stay feel so special and welcoming. The rooms were very comfortable, but the overall experience was underwhelming. We chose the Fairmont from among other local hotel resorts because of its family friendly amenities, in particular, the water slides. When we arrived on Monday there was a giant sign posted announcing that there was a maintenance issue and the water was not heated in the pool with the water slides. As you can imagine, this was incredibly disappointing for our 11 and 9 year olds who were really looking forward to taking advantage of the water slides during the cooler months. When we brought it up to hotel staff they just shrugged their shoulders and it didn't seem to be something that anyone had control over or an interest in repairing. I had a very disappointing experience on Dec. 31 when I went to utilize the hotel gym. I had researched the fitness amenities on the website and was excited to use the gym featured on the spa webpage. When I entered I was told that I would have to purchase a $75 day pass to use the gym, but there is a "complementary" gym located elsewhere. In my experience staying at hotels all around the world I have never in my life been asked to pay to use a gym. I was not interested in using the spa facilities, but just doing a 45 minute workout. I went to the concierge and they just told me it was hotel policy and then I elevated it to a woman who was in charge at the front desk at reception and she similarly told me the same thing. I proceeded on using the "complementary" gym that had no sanitary wipes to clean equipment and which I would say is one of the absolutely underwhelming hotel gyms I have ever encountered at a 5 star resort. I travel a lot for work and have stayed in hotels that are not as prestigious as the Fairmont with much nicer hotel gyms. I would add that there was hardly enough room to work out and it was a very unenjoyable experience. I would rate that experience as zero stars.

The rooms were nice except for the thermostat. I was not able to change the temperature and needed to call maintenance twice when I wanted my room warmer or cooler, based on the daily temperature. Also, we came for the Christmas at the Princess activities. We were saddened to see the Alpine skate trail was not part of it this year. Only the ice skating rink, not the trail. We really liked the skating trail and thought that was unique to the Fairmont as most places have a skating rink.

Hotel was accommodating for large groups. Compared to other local high end hotels that we’ve experienced (Phoenician, Marriott) the Fairmont Princess falls short. The pools could have been heated more for the winter temperatures. The restaurants could have had more kid friendly options. The lagoon smelled horrible (like sewage which our kids even noticed). The kids room was inaccessible during the daytime (even the hours it was normally available). And our room was only serviced on our 3rd and 4th nights. Christmas at the Princess was okay, but lacked any authenticity for being in Arizona.
