UPDATE: The rest of our 4-night stay was uneventful. Staff was very friendly and grounds are very nice. We were scared off from the restaurants so did not try them again! Upped our score by 2 points. ORIGINAL: Still early, so maybe it will get better, but -- arrived around 6:45 pm, hungry after a long flight and were told that the resort restaurants were busy but we should be able to get seats. The folks at the front desk seemed to genuinely want to help, but I don't think they know what is actually happening. We walked to a few restaurants and called the others but no luck -- could not even get two adjoining seats at one of the bars. With one exception: an outdoor restaurant. Pretty cold tonight, below 50, but we gave it a try. Has heat lamps -- but the big gas heaters are all off-line! Dinner was good -- pricey but good -- though they forgot to bring our appetizer and then brought it to us as we were finishing our entrees. Back at the room, the internet ($15/day) is incredibly slow - graphics are not loading at all. Oh -- forgot to mention -- they did not give us the room type that we had booked. They helpfully offered to move us to a different room for a $300 upcharge. Final stroke: one of the two in-room coffee cups was a used cup. At a budget hotel, none of this would bother us. But at a luxory resort, we are very disappointed and frankly puzzled. Here for 4 days so I may update .

As a Gold member, I was "upgraded" to a Deluxe view room overlooking the pool. The pool side was great, but my entrance door overlooked the Plaza lounge and the music was blaring until midnight. I was shocked at the level of noise. Otherwise, the property is quite nice. If I were to return, I would specifically request not to be in building E again.

We reserved 4 rooms for my mom's 90th birthday. Three of the room were ready early, however, the most important room, my mom and dad's suite was not ready, even by 4pm. The customer service in this case was not especially good. I wish they would have offered them a drink, a different room or something for the fact that the room was not ready. They arrived at the hotel at 3pm and were told their suite would be ready very soon. They sat in the lobby waiting. By 4pm, they were getting quite upset. They were given their room by 4:30. However, when they arrived at their room, there was a room service tray sitting outside the door and there was no tray with macarones and water in their room, like the rest of us had received. Their suite overlooked a parking lot (the Casitas) instead of having a nice view of the pool. That was a disappointment as well. All of the rooms were tidy but not necessarily cleaned that well. There was a lot of dust in the lampshades and on the blinds. All in all it was nice but don't think it was worth the high price per night for the rooms and the suite. I planned this birthday for several months and I was in conctact with Calli Welker who did a great job with planning my mom's birthday dinner at the Bourbon Steak house. I was also contacted by someone else about our rooms to make sure everything would be ready for us. I gave her the names of individuals that would be staying in each room but apparently that was never changed from my name. I had hoped this would be an awesome weekend for my mom's 90th but it started out so badly with them not getting their room on time that it kind of soured the weekend, especially for my mom.

I had such a memorable time at the Fairmont. Even though it was a business trip it was phenomenal. It was so great that we stayed in Arizona a few days longer to go to Sedona. Arizona is such a beautiful place
