Fuego on the beach at the Fairmont Mayakoba

We had such a lovely experience on the beach, in the evening, at the Fairmont Mayakoba. The restaurant is Fuego, it is relaxed and lovely, on the water, lights hanging. And then the food, all done over wood fire, as just delicious. Staff were engaging of attentive, but gave us lots of space. It was a great anniversary

Leobardo was the best server! Had a great experience and he may it so enjoyable. He provided great recommendations and was a joy to have serve us.

Beautiful grounds but not worth the cost with all the issues

We were here for 4 days recently for a business conference. First impression when we arrived was how it was a beautiful resort and our room looked nice. It was my husband and I. Within an hour of being in our room, we observed a racoon come to our patio door and try to pry open the door. Walking around the grounds over the next couple days, we saw numerous racoons - one hissing at my husband as he tried to leave our room at 6 am to work out when it was still dark (he shined his phone light and it finally ran away), crawling on the housekeepers cart, crawling into the garbage cans, and stories from other people about their experiences with the pests. I call them pests because they were a problem. Don't expect to come here and sit on your patio to enjoy the ambiance. The service at the restaurants/bars were extremely slow. We didn't try the room service, so can't speak on that. They have only a few food places with limited menu choices. The room walls are thin, so you will be able to hear your neighbors talking in the room next door our outside. The housekeeper will come to your room after 9 pm for turndown service (unless you inform them of a different time) and you will hear them wheeling their coolers (to restock the mini bar) between then and 10 pm. It is not a quiet, tranquil environment despite the beauty. Also, the reviews on how they put "gratiuity is not included" on the receipts are still happening, even though for AI, they are supposed to be included. I see the review response from the manager from months ago on how they are reviewing their policy means they have done nothing to correct the incorrect information on their receipts. The positives were how beautiful the grounds were, nice beach (small area, though), the sounds of all the bird noises (nature), clean room and other facilities. We would not stay here again. For the price and all the negatives I listed, it is not worth the cost.
