The service was absolutely superb. It head and shoulder above all other hotels I stayed. From valet to front desk, to bellman, to the restaurants. The hotel itself is a little older, and needs a little TLC. But they really take care of you. I was pleasantly surprise.

Excellent customer service at this hotel!!! We showed up from the airport early to check in with a toddler that REALLY needed to take a nap. Jack F. at the front desk was so helpful and got us into an empty room so that our baby could sleep while the staff cleaned and prepared our suite. This was really going above and beyond, and was so appreciated. Because of this accommodation, we were able to attend a family gathering later in the afternoon without any toddler meltdown. So Jack F. at the Fairmont Dallas literally saved the day!

`Our suite was very nice, great view, the bed was super comfortable. I will say, the HVAC in the living room never stopped blowing cold air and it was a little uncomfortable, but the bedroom was fine. We weren't in the room enough for it to be an issue. That is the only thing that wasn't terrific. We had drinks and appetizers at the bar and loved it. Great food, great service, loved the smoked Old Fashioned! Staff was great.

This is a classic old-school hotel, for good or for bad (mostly good). The good: 1. Superb service, ranging from the front desk to the concierge to the bar staff; 2. Classy, elegant decor in the public spaces, reminiscent of a grande-dame hotel (no wonder many holiday parties were being held here during my stay); 3. Excellent food - I was surprised how good the food was at a hotel venue, including my dinner at the bar (definitely try the Texas smoked Old Fashioned , the best Old Fashioned you will ever have) and breakfast at the restaurant. The not-so-good: Older room decor, including a desk drawer that was falling apart, scuff marks in the bathtub, a smaller 1970s style bathroom, and grandmotherly room furnishings.

My room was not very clean - e.g., under side of commode seat was dirty (not bad but definitely had not been cleaned), hair on the wall of the shower, dried liquid on the bathroom sink, dirty air filter (was not looking for this but noticed when tying my shoes and the morning sun was hitting it). The hotel rooms need updated. Dallas, especially in the arts and uptown area, has much newer or remodeled hotels in a similar price range or slightly above that would be worth having a newer, cleaner room.
