Our recent stay at the Fairmont was enjoyable thanks to out-of-town friends, but the condition of the Fairmont Dallas itself was disappointing. As a longtime Dallas icon, the Fairmont name still signals upscale quality to many visitors—yet the reality falls short. The hotel is overdue for a major overhaul. In a city that leads the country in plastic surgery, it’s time to give the old girl a facelift.

Overall, my family enjoyed the stay. The staff was accommodating to our request: keeping valet after checkout, baggage after checkout, removing extra charges promptly and providing bedding for the pullout. The concierge, Phil, was amazing with my youngest son. The service is top notch and why you stay. Room wise leaves a little to be desired. It could definitely stand for an modernization. Lamps that are touch base with usb plugins would be nice (luckily my daughter brought the wall adapter cube for us to charge our phones). We could have managed with more towels, but after a long day we didn't want to hassle with an additional request (had 5 people on the reservation and 4 towels). There was no bedding for the pull out. The front desk was quick to send a blanket and pillow, but this should have been there already (again with the reservation for 5). Lastly, offering on the website stated we could have had breakfast for the room for $10 (plus whatever taxes and tip). This was incorrect as it was only for 2 (again our reservation was for 5), leading us to go else where for breakfast instead of enjoying your hotel. Overall, it was pleasant. The location is in the heart. Whether we wanted some early coffee, breakfast on Main, or catching an opera at Winspear. You all have this going for you all.

We frequently stay in Fairmont hotels and the Dallas outpost is one of the few where I struggle to describe it as a luxury hotel experience. The hotel has good location in downtown Dallas and the staff are helpful but the rooms are outdated and show a lot of wear and tear. Ripped and dirty upholstery, chipped furniture, bathtub peeling, etc. are signs that this hotel needs renovation. They also seemed short-staffed in the dining outlets- breakfast was slow and chaotic although the food itself was good. The valet and front desk staff were helpful but the experience fell far short of the premium pricing ($60/night for valet, etc.) We are generally satisfied with Fairmont hotels but this one falls short given the luxury price.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Fairmont. The only things I would recommend to improve is ensuring coffee, creamers, towels and toilet paper is regularly stocked.
