The Novotel at the central station is well located for walking around the town. The hotel itself was nice enough and the staff were pleasant and helpful. However, it seemed very strange that on both visits to the hotel I was given a voucher for a free drink in the hotel bar (perhaps because I'm enrolled in the Accor loyalty scheme) - but the bar is always shut at the weekend - so I could never use them. Also, 1 of the 2 hotel lifts was out of order - and it seems that it has been out of order for some time. This makes using the lift at busy times (i.e. breakfast) difficult. Finally - my double room was missing the 2nd set of bathrobe, slippers and towel - and the complimentary coffee pods hadn't been replaced after the previous guests - but the hotel was very busy and the hotel did look a bit understaffed. However - depending on the deal I could get - I would stay again.

Very poor hotel, definitely not 4 star. The hotel restaurant and bar do not open at weekends , even in peak summer months , which is ridiculous. As other reviewers mention, the air con doesn’t work , which means you need to open the windows . But being next to the railway station means you then are subject to the very loud train moves until late at night and again from 5am. I would never use this hotel again unfortunately, which is disappointing as the Novotel brand can usually be relied on .

We thought this hotel was going to be much nicer with a 4-star rating. The room was small, it didn’t get vacuumed in three days, they forgot to clean the bathroom and change the towels one day, and didn’t even remove the dishes from the restaurant in our room. We enjoyed being able to open the window and get fresh air. The paper cups in the room got soft after using them and they didn’t replace them daily. The safe was broken. It was just an unfortunate stay. We wish we’d chosen a small chateau or even a Hilton! The breakfast was terrible; not fresh; you could buy better food at Costco. 🤦🏼‍♀️Being beside the train station is about the only redeeming quality unfortunately.

Poor hotel one side train station platform the other side a dual carriageway. No air con so you had to open windows very noisy affected your sleep . People shouting at night rough area around train station with youths hanging around Restaurant and bar closed all weekend as it is a business hotel awful. My fridge did not work only one small bin in bathroom nothing in bedroom. My room not cleaned first night. A glass left for days with milk in it turned to yoghurt not replenished with tea bags The only staff on sat and sun was a young lad early 20s the reception is not as it is shown in the picture Not a 4 star hotel restaurant like a snack bar drinks bar not open but looks like a sports club bar. None of the extras you expect for paying 4 star money so beware if your tour company have not told you and check with them as you are paying for a 2 star rubbish hotel in my opinion.

A Disappointing Experience

Whilst the rooms themselves are spacious and clean, May is obviously not the month to be in this hotel. Half the rooms overlook the very noisy Tours Station, active from 05:15 on weekdays. This is fine if you can keep your windows closed (they only open a very short way) but this side also faces the afternoon sun. During the four days we were there, there appeared to be no management and minimal staffing. The air conditioning was turned off throughout the hotel and there was nobody in management to ask for it to be switched on. The only way to sleep at night was naked on top of the bedclothes. Safety was not a priority. One of the two lifts was in need of maintenance, giving out false information on which floor it had arrived at. The emergency stairs (internal) culminated in a flight entirely without external light and with a cleaning cart stored at the bottom. On one morning we came down to find a broom placed across the final door (which opened inwards) The advertised bar was unstaffed throughout our stay and the restaurant open on only two of our four evenings over a weekend. Properly managed, this would be a good central point from which to explore the wonderful city of Tours. As it is, we would not recommend staying here.
