We are regulars here and just enjoyed a three night stay with Club Millesime privileges. The hotel itself is typical of Sofitel standards but it is the staff that make it special. Shout out to Vino, Lachana, and Ekbar for your wonderful and warm service. There were a couple of other ladies and gentlemen who also provided top notch service but I apologise that I did not catch your names. First world problem, but I did notice that the canapé service no longer offers a chef station alongside the buffet. This is a drop in service that while not significant, is definitely a step in the wrong direction if you are looking to maintain a point of difference to other 5 star hotels. We’ll be back mid next year and hopefully there are no further cuts to the service. Rooms are nice and big, beds are very comfortable, bathrooms are spacious with quality Balmain amenities, and the gym and pool should satisfy most people.

Good Stay but Missing the True Five-Star Experience

I stayed at Sofitel Damansara Kuala Lumpur for four nights. While the stay was generally comfortable, it did not fully reflect the standards expected from a luxury five-star hotel. Check-in was smooth, and the reception staff were polite and helpful. However, several small but important details were missing. We had two rooms, and housekeeping often provided only one hand towel and one toothbrush, despite double occupancy. On two occasions, one room had a strong smoke smell. The team tried to assist by providing a humidifier, which helped, but the source of the smell couldn’t be identified. There was also an unexpected incident where housekeeping rang the bell and entered the room almost immediately. We were later told this was the evening turndown service. While the service is appreciated, it would be better if staff clearly announced themselves or waited longer, as this can be scary for families with children or guests who value privacy. And when we spoke about it we were advised the luxury hotel as if I’ve never stayed in the luxury hotel. I’ve been staying hotels and being until Hilton diamond Member for years. Breakfast service needs improvement as well. Staff appeared disengaged, with no welcoming smiles, and many food items were finished by the time we arrived. We had to request multiple refills, which should be proactively managed at a five-star hotel. Overall, it was a good stay, but not exceptional. With stronger housekeeping consistency, clearer communication, and more attentive breakfast service, the hotel can achieve the standard it aims for.

They don’t care if you are an Accor member

I am an Accor Gold/Plus member. When we checked in we were told that a complimentary upgrade wasn’t available. I checked online and the room class above ours was still available. We were still denied a complimentary upgrade. It makes paying for the membership and booking with a group pointless. Accor/Sofitel are a big disappointment to their loyalty customers

Jeeva at Lebar made the best cocktail and mocktail for us, also Kuhan and Ajay provided excellent service and smile all the time. Will definitely visit again!

Very disappointed, I recommend this Hotel to a friend travelling with us , when he checked in, first time here, they give him a lovely suite. Been her three or four times give me my usual room, not happy.. I was embarrassed in the lounge as the offering was not the same as it was before which I had explained to him.. the bar used to have a lovely man who I guess has left. Now no nibbles and not told was close so we can’t get another drink. This is 21.30 in a five star hotel. Three different people I have to ask before I can get 15.00 check out without being messed about. I was coming back in March but maybe go somewhere else now, very disappointed. Plus point , the lounge servers are excellent 5 stars.
