Wonderful hotel experience

With great views of the pier and Geelong waterfront, the Novotel Geelong made for a great stay for our footy weekend away. Staff were attentive and wonderful to speak with - nothing was too much trouble. We asked to view the conference, meeting and event spaces - again stunning views and many options available. Great dinner at the restaurant, Tempo as well. Perhaps their warm hospitality even helped the Port Adelaide players get up over Geelong (don't tell the locals!). Highly recommend, made a great stay in Geelong even better.

Cold pool

I enjoyed staying at the Novotel with Merryn for 2 nights from Friday 26th April 2024 to Sunday 28th April 2024 we really enjoyed the Steam Room. Also we liked playing Table Tennis, Dominos and swimming in the Indoor Pool but it was cold not heated.

So so sad, a favourite venue ruined

We are very sad. We have frequented the Novotel Geelong for many years, for accommodation, meals and many lovely cocktails. Tonight, 2 guests were talking on their phones whilst on speaker. Many of the people around these folk were cross as the phone voices were loud and invasive. My husband and I asked the folk to turn their phones off speaker and the gentleman was very aggressive in his defence of himself. We did not ask him to hang up, just turn off the speaker. An employee, perhaps the Maître de (?) approached my husband and I to say it was quite ok for these folk to use their speaker phone, and that we were annoying folk in the bar. Oddly, we weren’t in the bar. He did offer to relocate us, but the lovely views from the front window were lovely so we didn’t want to move. No such request was made to the loud speaker folk. Apparently, because some folk watch sport matches out the front of the establishment, it is ok to disturb customers in the hotel. All customers should be considered, not just one or two. We are really hurt and will most likely go to the Wharf Shed for quiet drinks and conversation. It appears that local year round customers are not as important as out of towners. By the way, staff and food/beverage are so amazing and kind at the Wharf Shed Geelong 👍

It has taken me nine months to get around to writing this review. The first probem was that we did not receive a welcoming email from the hotel in the days prior to our arrival. The second problem was that the entrance to the hotel is not easy to find. It happens to be down a badly signposted cul-de-sac and is not visible from the main road. The third problem was the fact that we went out to the pokies and when we returned, our room key would not open the door to the foyer, so we had to wait outside until a cleaner made their appearance in the foyer and we were able to attract their attention. It appears that there is no night manager as we tried ringing and there was no response. Then, we had a sleepless night due to noisy air conditioning. Spoke to the manager about these and other concerns and received a small discount and a change of rooms - thank you. As a 20 year member of ALL I expected better.

Stayed here for work - a few issues, dirty stained carpets, luke warm water -couldn’t take a shower and found someone else’s bandaid in the bed, only valet parking at $40 per day otherwise you need to park in the street. Will choose somewhere else next time.
