Excellent stay nice clean and modern hotel staff are friendly and welcoming nice English breakfast in the morning rooms are large with beds comfortable tea and coffee making station enjoyed our stay

Don’t bother with breakfast!

I stayed here when visiting Sheffield arena. The hotel have a button on reception that you can press to order taxis, so it was simple to get a taxi to our show. Check in was fairly fast and our room was really nice. It was large with a huge comfy bed and tea/coffee. The bathroom is lovely with a large walk in shower that has a seating area. The hotel is on an industrial estate and our room overlooked trees and a railway line. We didn’t hear any outside noise when we were there. But we found the noise from the corridor was quite bad. We got woken up at 7.30am by a woman in the corridor. Breakfast was not that great and was £18.95 of booked separately. For the quality and price of the hotel, the breakfast was poor. We had to wait until a table could be cleaned, lots of food had ran out and it was just a bit chaotic. The food was t that great quality and I’d definitely choose a premier inn breakfast over this. The car park was free, but you do need to register your vehicle on an iPad at reception. I’d definitely stay again because the room was lovely. But I wouldn’t have breakfast.

Beware rip-off cark parking charges

Anyone thinking of using this hotel should be aware that they have contracted out management of their car park (why managing it themselves is so difficult is difficult to comprehend) to a rip-off parking company, who will charge you £100 for not registering for a microsecond longer than a time which is specified somewhere on a less-than obvious sign. The same will happen to anyone who happens to come to pick you up from reception.

Dear Guest, With regards to car parking, there are over 20 sign all over the car park requesting for car park owners to register there cars if they are going to be in the car park park for more then 10 min. Car parking is been given to third party contractor to make sure car parking space is not abused and only used by the guest of the hotel. Regards Reception

Awful. I would not recommend this hotel. Nothing about it was acceptable. I've had better experiences in 2-star hotels. This is not a 4-star hotel. Stayed with my 18 year old for 1 night on October 4th 2025, twin room. My son said it's the worst hotel he has ever stayed in. The worst part was the noise from other guests - there was a lot - despite a feature of the hotel being described as 'sound proofing'. More like false advertising. And I don't mean rowdy, shouting hysteria. I could actually hear other guests emptying their bowels. And whoever Nathan is, I hope he listened to his Dad and put his shoes on so he could carry on running the corridors at 6am. The walls must be made of paper. There was a lot of noise. Soft furnishings were very tired and stained, including the curtains. I couldn't use the TV as the remote control was so sticky and worn the text had come off the buttons. There appeared to be black mould growing on the shower floor. The smell in the corridors and room was really unpleasant. It was not mentioned to me on arrival that I needed to book my car in, or I would be fined for parking, the desk staff were unapologetic about this. I was also slightly concerned by the booking notifications which referred to me as 'Mr', which I am not. Gender is a protected characteristic - the hotel should be more careful about this. Spoke to reception about all of this. They really did not care. I chose the Mercure after good experiences in other hotels, but I will not be using them again after this experience.

False advertising! Poor hotel! Do not book!

Firstly, got given the keys to a room that was already occupied. Luckily the people were about to come out as we were about to go in then realised. The hotel did quickly resolve after going down and gave us free breakfast and drinks. The sofa bed was not even a bed at all as you were literally sleeping on springs! The mattress was over 10 years old and all the foam has been worn - complained to reception that it cannot be slept on as it’s not fit for purpose they replied that’s the only bed they got, so we complained and tried to raise to manager but no response. As a family of four we had to all squeeze in a two single bed joined together with one adult sleeping at the bottom end. Pathetic with no response from the hotel. Most of all, the hotel is built in industrial estate so you hear machinery work at the background disrupting your sleep! Quality of build is so poor to the point you hear everything from upstairs from baby crying to every footsteps taken - appalling! I wouldn’t consider this as 4 star! Trading standards should see this mattress that they advertise as sofa bed which is absolutely not fit to be slept on!
