Stop off on a trip further north. Location was perfect for what we had planned. Rooms basic, however for the price paid, felt value for money. Breakfast - adequate selection to meet our requirements. Staff friendly and promptly cleared table's. The hotel was very quiet at the time we stayed. Visited the local restaurant, that is ideally located as a limited selection of food on the menu as the hotel.

We had booked the Ibis due to its location near Haydock Race course. We checked in later in the afternoon after the races had finished and it was straight forward. We were in room 330, third floor and were facing the front of the hotel (car park and pub). We went out to a local pub for food and upon our return, we realised another event was on fairly locally. Through out the night, we heard shouting and a few arguments, we did have the window open as the rooms have no aircon, it was just unfortunate we’d book the hotel on this weekend. The room itself was clean and fairly modern, there was small tea and coffee tray. The bed was comfortable and there were two extra pillows in a bag hung up which I appreciated. My only gripe is the the television is on the dressing table in the room and it takes up the whole space, it blocked the mirror behind it and I couldn’t sit there to get ready cause there was no space to put things on there? The hairdryer is a proper hairdryer so having long, thick hair, really appreciated. The breakfast was ok, it’s a small buffet style but there was cooked options, pasties, bread/toast with spreads, some fruit and juices, For the price and location, it’s okay!

This hotel is outstanding and the welcome you get is so warm and friendly i seriously can’t recommend this ibis styles enough and staff go above and beyond 1st class all the way

Greeted by a chaotic check-in process at 3pm on Friday, majority of guests attending the races/Tom Jones concert so wanting a quick turn around to get out again, so not ideal, you'd think they'd be more prepared. Our room was hot and facing the main road, so was noisy with the window open (no air-con). Kitchen delivery wagon arrived at 7.36am right below our window, again very noisy. Also has very cheap-feeling thin toilet roll in the bathrooms. Breakfast was ok and was the one redeeming factor. Location wise, fairly handy for the races (around £8.50 in an Uber or a 40 mins walk)

Good hotel, handy for Racecourse

Stayed 2 nights as we were attending Haydock Races over the weekend. Room was more than adequate for our needs, comfy bed, fluffy towels and tea and coffee, just ask at reception if more is needed, they are happy to provide as much as you request. The rooms get very hot and no AirCon in rooms, can be unpleasant for sleeping. Had window open, however I do feel the hotel should stop people smoking at the front entrance, the noise is awful and smoke drifts up to rooms. Hence only 4 stars as the noise is very loud. Bar area, nice and clean and comfy. After a long drive we decided to chance a pizza in the hotel, I have to say it was lovely, clearly freshly baked and the bar/restaurant staff were lovely. Breakfast, both hot and cold food available, ample for our needs and constantly replenished. Overall a good stay, only issues personal to us, no air con and the noise from smokers at all hours at front entrance.
