We arrived on the 12 December 2025 all the hotel staff were excellent but when we got to the room no heat the room was freezing cold I went to reception they said sorry we sort it the next day after I complained again they left a electric heater in room No central heating all weekend. We booked a table in restaurant for dinner ended up in conservatory that was also cold in there and the meal was terrible and to rub salt into the wound they added 10% surcharge to the bill which I refused to pay the sink tap in bathroom was lose the toilet seat had a stop missing on one side . The management need To go and stay at mecure hotels in York ,Telford ,Barnsley , just to name a few to see the excellent quality of their food and hotels to name just a few I have a Accor member for about 25 years and had such a poor stay We never stay in this mecure again.

With regard to the restaurant experience, seating arrangements and service locations are occasionally adjusted based on operational requirements. Feedback on food and ambience is subjective, however your comments have been noted as part of our ongoing reviews. The discretionary service charge applied is standard practice and is always optional, as acknowledged at the time. I note your comparison with other Mercure hotels and respect your perspective as a frequent user of the brand. Each property operates within its own environment and infrastructure, and we continuously focus on maintaining consistency while balancing the realities of a historic building. Two uninvited guests in my room

Checked in and went to my room to find 2 young lads in my room. When challenged they scuttled away. Went to reception to find out what was going on and they said they knew 2 boys were wandering around the hotel. They were not going to take any action. I suggested they call the police as the lads had accessed my room. They didn't seem to know what to do. I'm not aware of the police were ever called. Will definitely never stay here again.

Great night in the Marque with works Christmas do. Was made special by great bar staff who kept up with our demands, especially Harvey who was super nice to us all.

Title: Extremely Poor Service and Misleading Refund Communication

We stayed at Mercure Haydock Park on 19–20 November 2025. After a very disappointing meal and grubby stay. we met with the General Manager the next morning. He was fair and agreed to issue a partial refund. Sadly, everything that came afterwards was unacceptable. Despite being told the refund would take 3–5 working days, the hotel did not process it for 8 days. During this time, my calls went unanswered and emails were ignored. When I finally received a reply, I was advised to “check with your bank” — yet it later became clear that the hotel had not processed the refund at all until a week after it was promised. Communication from the hotel and even Accor’s own customer care team was cold, dismissive, and lacked any empathy. I repeatedly had to chase for basic information, and the experience caused unnecessary stress and frustration. A real shame, because the conversation with the GM on the day was positive — but the follow-up service fell far below acceptable standards. This hotel has severe staffing issues and a dated hotel . Not clean the cobwebs in our suite were shocking .

We had a fantastic experience in the meeting room yesterday. Stephanie and the team did an exceptional job of looking after us from start to finish. The food and refreshments were great, and the space itself was spotless and comfortable. The presentation equipment was also extremely easy to use, which made the day run smoothly. I’d highly recommend this venue and look forward to booking again.
