This is quite a nice hotel. Obviously these are strange times, and we had emails prior to arrival stating that masks must be work while going through public areas, but lots of guests seemed to be ignoring that! Room was nice (junior suite) but sofa bed wasn't made up when we arrived. Not a problem. WHen we came back in later - 9pm - told at reception that the sofa bed was broken so could we move rooms. Not idela with 2 tired kids in tow but OK. Got to new room - same style - but none of the goodies that come with the room were in it! Called reception a few times - no answer - not good. Eventually popped down to the bar for drink and told reception. Goodies arrived at 11:30!! Far to late to be knocking on the door.

We had to change room 3 times as there was issues with the bed and the TV didn't work also we had issues with the shower it was a nice hotel but it does need updating the staff were friendly and tried to help us but I dont think I would stay again

Stayed one night for meeting. Room was clean but bed was not comfortable. The tv had no signal on major channels! The bathroom had black mould in the disabled shower. Handy location. Food and drink expensive. Breakfast was best bit.

Comfortable overnight stay in Junior Suite, beds were very good & we all slept soundly, satisfactory breakfast, good service received. Some areas of the hotel looked a little tired however this did not affect our stay.

So good in so many ways, but with the potential this place has, and the efficiency of most of the staff, the owners of the Mercure, must start to invest in its fabric, and also offer much better food than currently. This place needs a thorough overhaul; the menu needs to be completely revamped. I stay so often, and it saddens me deeply, that you cannot sit and eat a lovely Sunday dinner on a Sunday. That anything longer than a couple of nights and I struggle to know what to eat. I want to open my window regardless of which room, without the need for a room change to achieve this. The staff are delightful, please invest and make this a great place to work and stay. It should be buzzing!

New Year Stay

We stayed at the Mercure in Haydock and enjoyed our time there. This was a combination of business and pleasure. The hotel is very good quality and has a magical feeling at this time of the year. We plan to go back there later in the year

King suite booked hot tub didn’t work television in bathroom didn’t work under floor heating didn’t work overall heating in suite didn’t work...had the fire heater on all night...offered £10 or a free breakfast for inconvenience. Overall poor

I am sorry to hear you were disappointed with your stay, unfortunately the bathroom TV and Jacuzzi are not longer operational in any of our suites. We no longer advertise these features for this room type on any booking channel. As the new General Manager this is something I am keen to resolve and looking to remove these items from the bedrooms to save disappointment in the future. In regards to the underfloor heating and room heating system I will inspect this personally as a matter of urgency as these should be working perfectly. If this had been raised during your stay a member of the team may have been able to assist you with this. I really do hope this has not deterred you from returning in the future. I was amazed that a "top" Hotel such as Mercure can,t provide restaurant service on Sundays!. I was told the bar could provide food. I asked the lad in the bar what food was available, he obviously didn,t know but his fellow barman said I think its Pizzas ! Enough said.. But the main thing that now puts me off Mercure Haydock though is "The Haydock Roundabout" .(need I say more?)

Neglected room in need of a lot of TLC

We abandoned our usual Premier Inn as this nearby hotel has air conditioning and weather forecast correctly predicted very hot. Arrived at 8.30pm, room thermostat showed 24 degrees so turned down air con to 16 but didn't have an effect. At 10pm found that the kettle wasn't working, phoned reception and an old plastic replacement was brought up for the defunct stainless steel one. The next day I found that the safety certificate for the replacement expired 9 months earlier! When the kettle was replaced I asked if the air conditioning was working properly. The young man went downstairs to check and came back to tell me the main control downstairs was set to heating rather than cooling, it was changed and the air con worked. The TV and control was next to useless. On switching on the picture was washed out and over bright - could reset using the on screen menu but settings were not saved as on switching off and on again it reverted to a washed out picture. The programme guide didn't work, nor the channel buttons except BBC1. On moving through channels with the + button a number were missing and channels appeared randomly,using the - button did not return to a previous channel. Only way to get back to BBC1 was to switch off and on again and reset the picture! Reported this to Reception and the 2 people there said it would be looked at. Returned in the evening and no different, as we were on a 2 night stay it wasn't worth complaining. We also found our bath sheets had been replaced with bath towels which had seen better days. The bathroom was in need of an update and is the basis for my cleanliness score. There was black mould on the shower end tiles and along the side of the bath as well as the shower screen which was quite thick.There was also grime around the bath tap. On leaving we were told to 'have a nice day' rather than be asked about our stay. The room was a good size but poorly lit, all in all the extra cost compared to a Premier Inn is not justified.

People were lovely and friendly and provided excellent service. The food was great, full breakfast was a real treat. Room was lovely and clean. Reasonable value for money and in a convenient spot for Haydock. Met colleagues in reception and had good table service with good coffee.

For the price paid this is a very reasonably stay. Nice location all staff are very helpful, rooms a a good size and bed is very comfortable.. Room and corridors looking in need of refurbishment . The window in mine had a broken catch which mean't it could not be completely closed.

Where to start. I was informed about an event that was on and that I would hear music and I was asked if I wanted to swap rooms. I said this was fine as I expected to hear a little back ground nose. No. My partner and I were shouting to each other in the room, you could hear every word the DJ said and the words of the songs until 12am, then it went onto being back ground noise like I originally expected. The room came with a telly in the bathroom, this did not work, both my partner and I tried, with there being no buttons on the TV or no controller it couldnt be used. £22.40 for 2 double vodkas and cokes! Extremely expensive! Room service ordered, the food came with plastic knives and forks and in takeaway boxes. Not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel. There was more choice to eat at their restaurant and it would have worked out alot cheaper. Breakfast wasnt great either, the best thing about it was the sausages. The only choice you had for toast was wholemeal bread, the whole amount of time my partner and I were in there the hash browns hadn't been filled up after we had the last one. The 'fried eggs' were rock hard and the bacon had been sat there that long it had curled up. Beans were Luke warm at best. You may aswell have thrown a full 5 litre bottle of oil on top of the mushrooms they were that greasy. Fruit was not freshly opened out of the cans. Room needs a new, modern makeover. Especially replacing the TV in the lounge with a more modern one that has built in freeview and not a box that we had no idea how to get it working. Although by the time we worked it out it was pointless as we couldnt hear it anyway! Taps in the bathroom have come loose and need looking at. The bar staff were extremely rude, this was even before the event took place so being 'busy' was no excuse. After a pleasant greeting we will not be returning.

Overnight stay, made good use of the spa and gym facilities. Room was large and comfortable. All the staff we met were very courteous and friendly. Only blot was that the window did not close tightly, so we had some minor road noise from the M6. But, we have been before, and would definitely stay in the future.

Traveling with young children poses challenges. The staff at Mercure Haydock were genuinely eager to find ways to help make our stay better, from room setup, food and pool facilities. When we made a mistake ordering food, the chef and restaurant staff graciously fixed it with no additional cost to us. We truly appreciated the family approach to running the hotel. Thank you.

Visited for a conference with my daughter then stayed over for the night to make a weekend of it. Had an accessible twin room which very comfortable with plenty of space, Our only problem was a blocked drain in the shower room ,,,so flooded the whole room when having a shower and this caused an unpleasant drains smell. So a lack of maintenance there it seems. However the receptionist was very helpful. There were no spare accessible rooms left and after hours for the maintenance staff to sort the drain so she saw that the room was moped clean and dry and my daughter and I had a complimentary evening meal. The swimming pool area is very good and all on one level so good for me with a mobility problem. The breakfast was also very good with a good choice of hot and cold foods. On the whole we enjoyed our stay

Superb hotel which delivers a 4 star service. Stunning entrance with a friendly welcome from Megan at reception nothing was too much trouble. Had a beautiful spacious room Ate in the lounge Eleanor abdctge two guys were very attentive and friendly Dined in the restaurant for breakfast and again the service from David and Sam was so professional yet friendly too Food was delicous Overall had a great stay and would highly recommend this Hotel.

They stay and breakfast was a more improved than last time. However upon collecting room key was give a room that was already occupied! New room key was provided. At breakfast the 2nd person was missing even though this was requested. Bedrooms where comfy but bathrooms need updating.

First stay at this hotel and indeed any Accor hotel. Booked the hotel to tie in with a Friday evening meeting at Haydock Park. This hotel is in a perfect location within easy walking distance of both the racecourse snd Ashton in Makerfield town centre. Only one word needed to describe the hotel and service, Excellent. This would certainly be my hotel of choice when staying in the area, despite many others to choose from.

We booked the Mercure Haycock as we were attending an evening wedding recetion. Service was good and the rooms clean. There was an issue with the breakfast for three of our party. but it was dealt with in a professional manner, very quickly and without any fuss.
