The worst accor experience I've ever had

Room walls seemed paper-thin - I got woken up by people checking in late at night. Not fun when you're trying to sleep! The room really needs some updating. There was this weird smell everywhere, but the bathroom was the worst. Pretty sure the drains need a good clean because there was a really bad smell coming up from them. The shower was a nightmare - barely any water pressure (felt like I was showering under a dripping tap), and getting the right temperature was impossible. It was either burning hot or freezing cold. The only positive was that the sheets and towels were clean, but honestly, that's just basic hotel stuff. I was trying to do a quick express checkout this morning but ended up wasting time because: The express checkout box was weirdly placed right on the reception desk Had to squeeze through the long check-in/out queue just to find it The box was so hard to spot, I almost missed it What's the point of having "express" checkout if guests still need to wait in the same line as everyone else? You've got such a spacious lobby - why not put the box in an obvious spot away from the queue? Maybe near the elevators or by the exit? I've stayed at a few Mercure hotels before and this was by far the worst experience I've had with the brand. Really disappointed with my stay.

I really enjoyed my stay here the room was nice and the restaurant was awesome. Scarlet and Annie were very professional staff and made my stay enjoyable. It is very close to the city centre and a short trek to docklands. This hotel is in a great location.

Key Card did not work - three times I have to walk up and down. Charged me for breakfast, though I had paid for breakfast when booking.

Staff were friendly. Bed was very comfortable. Linen was clean. BUT- there were repaired holes in the bath that were rusting, painted tiles at the end of the bath where the paint was lifting off , shower panel separating - all serious health hazards; the shower taps would not stop dripping unless turned off so tight it took 2 hands to turn them back on, obvious dirt around the perimeter of the bathroom, the remote for the TV and air conditioner had flat batteries - reception gave me batteries to replace the flat ones, one power point looked as if it was burned / scorched. There was no information sheet stating the number to call for reception or any other assistance at the hotel. . Breakfast was barely warm with nowhere to place the food covers while selecting food. Food offering was reasonable. Chairs in the foyer were torn, Carpet in the foyer was threadbare. The lift was still about 10cm above ground level when the door opened- but does settle into place - dangerous tripping hazard. Location is easy for tram access to the CBD.

I recently stayed one night here. I only chose it due to proximity to my work event. My first room allocated 134 was so loud as it's really close to Flemington Rd. Moved to 204. On Harker St. Noisy but not as bad. Definitely a very tired hotel. My room was missing one curtain only a backing on one side. Room service for a quiet Wed night. No Veggie burger at 6.15pm. Chicken burger option was not cooked so are around the chicken. Breakfast buffet. Ok. Coffee machine. Wouldnt recommend.
