While the room served its purpose as a place to rest, the overall experience was quite disappointing. While I certainly don't expect a room upgrade, having shown my loyalty to Accor and earned gold status I would have expected a slightly better room at least. Businesses actively seek loyalty but do little to actually retain it and this is the case here. Room was on ground floor in building 6 and had a very bad damp smell to it the entire time. Little wonder considering the awful shower that ended up with more water on the floor than down the drain. Room itself was quite reasonable and looked to have had some kind of upgrade. Bathroom was dreadful on the other hand and looked like it had never been upgraded since built all those years ago. Unfortunately just another mediocre Australian Accor hotel. Location was OK but with very little around it unless you wanted to play golf the entire time. Certainly wouldn't consider Mercure Gold Coast Resort when next on the Gold Coast.

Disappointed they don’t honour Accor club status benefits.

Did not honour their status program benefits. There was no room upgrade, no welcome gift and wouldn’t accept plus membership discount for food at the bar. There wasn’t a bottle of water or jug in the room and it’s a long walk (especially in the pouring rain) to get back to reception to buy a bottle of water. Overall the experience was very disappointing.

Very disappointing - dirt came out the taps.

Am a Platinum Accor member for the first time and have enjoyed my Accor stays until this one. Staff member at checkin was unhappy at being asked by colleagues to undertake other tasks. Was rolling her eyes and moaning to colleagues - but as I was standing right in front of her I could clearly hear it. After a long day I wanted to have a bath. I noticed the water in the bath was brown and on closer examination I noted there was a lot of dirt/soil in the bathtub. See pics attached. I decided against the bath or even a shower as the amount of dirt was substantial. It was late so mentioned to reception the next morning. Staff member didn’t seem too concerned and never apologised. I got a post stay survey and mentioned this and shared pics - never heard further. Really disappointing and after 10 months of great Accor service across several brands I am disappointed with this. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

After staying at this hotel twice a year since 2019 (except 2020/21 Covid), they have finally fixed the bed mattress issues I have complained about for the past 5 years. No more waking up with a sore back from a failing mattress. The resort is back to the standard expected of a Mercure and it was a very comfortable stay.

One night stay. Checkin was smooth. Underground parking was good, but there is quite a walk to take your bags to your room. Note that there are no lifts at this hotel and rooms are up to three floors high with stairs to negotiate. Pools are sadly a bit old and uninviting, with no bar service. The hotel is obviously quite old and in need of a serious makeover - maybe the 1970’s? The room was spacious and comfortable albeit a but tired and with a small balcony. This is very much just basic mid-tiered accommodation at best and unusually ordinary for a Mercure-branded establishment. There are very limited food options and no room service and quite a walk from the room to the main building. Small bar/cafe is really the only option during the day apart from the restaurant which was closed every time we saw it. The hotel website with Accor showed that all eating options were actually closed with no opening hours published, which seemed quite unprofessional and created doubt about whether the hotel was actually fully operating. We opted to make plans to eat outside the hotel. If you are looking for basic accommodation at slightly elevated price, you are fit and happy to fend for yourself as far as food and services are concerned, then it’s probably ok. We however did expect a lot more from a Mercure Hotel though and will be looking at better quality, and lower-priced alternatives in future.
