Amazing stay in a beautiful apartment

We had the most amazing stay at Quay West Suites for our 15 year anniversary. Our apartment was super clean, spacious, with a gorgeous view. We had breakfast included, which was delicious with many choices in the buffet. Every staff member was so friendly and helpful. We loved every minute of our week long stay and highly recommend this hotel, with a beautiful location.

Can’t fault my stay at Quay West Suites. Felt extremely welcome upon arrival and was given a complimentary room upgrade. James at reception is who you would want welcoming you at every hotel you visit. Location is excellent, short walk across the Yarra to the city and the MCG. Gym was all you need for a weekend stay and the pool and spa were great too. There is secure basement parking available onsite. Absolutely will stay here again.

Quay West Suites - an excellent place to stay on Melbourne Southbank

The 3 bedroom unit was well appointed, overlooking the Yarra River and within walking distance of most attractions and transport. Breakfast was provided on the Plaza level and the Barista made lovely coffees. Many rooms had balconies with views. The staff were welcoming and helpful and security for the building was good.

Good but not really great

Booked two apartments as an ALL Diamond member. I know the Melbourne hotel and rental apartments well, having stayed both in many hotels and in various furnished apartment properties similar to the Quay West in the Docklands area and the CBD. Generally the place was quite good, but it left me with a bit of a mixed feeling. There is plenty to love about this property, but also a few things that disappointed, notably uneven quality of flats and poor ALL member recognition. Let's start with the good: the property is in an excellent location off the Southbank promenade across from Flinders Street station. I also loved the fitness and recreation area with pool, jacuzzi and hammam. A bit more mixed: we had booked two "premium river view" flats. One of them had an excellent view but the other more of a side view obstructed by the roof of the shopping centre and quite noisy. Flats come with nice balconies and the beds are comfortable. On the other hand, the kitchen equipment was a bit underwhelming. Some appliances were very good, others less so, my washing machine didn't work at first and had a crack in the window, fridge not too great, and there was an oven but not even an oven proof dish! Poor: didn't get a sense of our loyalty (diamond members) being recognised at that property: no upgrade, only given a 1 hour late checkout and after some level of discussion (so 12 instead of 11), small amenity of a box of 3 macaroons and a 40g chocolate bar in one room, minimal welcome drink (glass of red, white, sparkling, beer or soft). I have to say that this was quite a big contrast with the Sofitel Melbourne which seems to go out of its way for its most frequent guests. I like the area a lot, and I like renting a serviced apartments where I can cook when staying long enough. I would consider the Quay West again but they haven't quite convinced me, so I would also consider others (compare and contrast with the Sofitel which would be my go to place when I need a hotel)

I stayed here while attending a show at Hamer Hall—just a short walk away, which was incredibly convenient. The staff were warm, welcoming, and very helpful. I was also lucky to receive a complimentary room upgrade at check-in, which was a lovely surprise. The Southbank area is full of great restaurants and bars, all within walking distance. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Melbourne!
